In June & July, the West Indies will host two tests against Sri Lanka & Pakistan. Before those series, changes need to be made. Chase needs relieving of the captaincy as he does not merit a place in the test side. The options for replacement are limited, to say the least. Long term, the test side needs to be improved, obviously. For that to work, immediate decisions need to be made regarding the following:

1) An overhaul of the domestic season, including an annual Headley-Weekes schedule

2) Enhanced A team calendar

3) Significant improvement of the regional surfaces - must be of paramount focus

So many talented teenagers and young cricketers are being wasted due to the alarming gap between the regional level and the test arena.
