IF Mgmt feels they have to drop King

Mon, Feb 23, '26 at 1:29 PM

why not try Chase as an opener?

Unlikely to lose anything in Production with the bat.

And you get an extra bowling option.

Something to consider anyway.

Personally, I would still stick with Brandon as he’s a quality player. But this isn’t a bi lateral series. Every match from here on in this tournament will be critical and we’ll need contributions from everyone.

i can understand if the management team feel the need to make a change.

@imusic

I would open with Motie

Mon, Feb 23, '26 at 1:53 PM

@WI_cricfan

motie could actually be a very good pinch hitter

Mon, Feb 23, '26 at 1:54 PM

@Jumpstart

I would actually go for Forde to open and put back Chase in the middle. There is something about having that 3 spin option that seems to work for WI

Mon, Feb 23, '26 at 2:00 PM

All I know is that Chase needs to play against India and SA... they need the off spin option.

If it was up to me, he comes in for King.

I would take a gamble and open with Forde or Motie.

From Shai Hope’s post match interview, King is going NOWHERE. They are waiting for him to come good.

@anthonyp

Not a bad idea motie or Forde but I feel King has some runs around the corner all he has to do is put an innings together.

Mon, Feb 23, '26 at 2:18 PM

Chase for Forde sorry about the latter but we have to sacrifice Forde as I really do not think that his medium pacers will trouble RSA unless there is swing. RSA has De Kock, Rickelton, Miller, Jansen all lefties so Chase must play.

@anthonyp

That simple !! I endorse ur opinion 100%

Mon, Feb 23, '26 at 2:27 PM

KING must go nowhere and must play.

All king needs to have is a clear mind and some luck to run his way

Cappo and coach must make him know they are fully behind him

Mon, Feb 23, '26 at 2:29 PM

@Halliwell

He also said they have a squad and will pick the final 11 based on strategic considerations.

Mon, Feb 23, '26 at 2:30 PM

@Madmax

SA has 4 batsmen that are lefties in the top 7 . Plus with the additional bowler in Chase, we have more margin for error in the event 2 bowlers aren’t going well on the day

Mon, Feb 23, '26 at 3:21 PM

King staying but I am worried about Forde in the team since he not very quick but does have the smarts. Holder and him together not surewhat u guys think

Mon, Feb 23, '26 at 3:52 PM

@Narper

The Cappo and Coach have already shown their confidence in him for 5 games and I am certain they will stick with him for a 6th and the 7th. He needs to reward their faith in him by getting some runs. He scored well vs South Africa in South Africa so he is familiar with their bowling and should do well.

@imusic

I expect King to be retained in the XI. I expect Chase to come in for either Shepherd or Powell, both of whom have leg niggles. Romario did not bowl and is walking with a limp. Rovman left the game holding his hamstring.

Everybody has a role to play and it is obvious to me that King’s role in the power play is to take more chances than Hope. I think Sammy doesn’t mind (although not ideal) that King gets out playing an aggressive shot.
