Kamla supports Divide and Rule of CARICOM

Thu, Feb 26, '26 at 7:37 AM

Forwarded Independent Comments and Report:

In her address to CATRICOM heads this afternoon T & T PM Kamla Persard Bissasor gave the impression that she is a Caribbean woman. Although spending 11 years in Jamaica and some years in Barbados where her son was born yet she seemed totally disconnected from her colleague heads. She showered praises on Donald Trump and Marco Rubio and thank them for their support of T & T (divide and rule). This is the lady who bad mouth CARICOM and publicly stated that the group has lost it way. Surprise to see her at the meeting in St Kitts. At the end of her address and Lukewarm appreciation, the camera focus on Mia Mottley who could not hide her stoned face.

Thomas wants ‘truth shared’ about his arrest and removal from Barbados

Ask Mia how this could happen and why it's hidden. The Barbados government settled out of court and used Bajan taxpayers' money; it cannot be disclosed.

“The admission of guilt on the Rowley government’s part, in my opinion, should be duly investigated to understand more of who, how, and why the loss of individual rights could be so easily swept away with due process. While speaking at the Caricom Summit in St. Kitts on Tuesday evening, Persad-Bissessar called the Thomas matter a kidnapping of a T&T citizen that was coordinated by the then government.

She suggested it was facilitated by Caricom. “He was placed in handcuffs, transported to the airport, and then back to Trinidad. I think an RSS (Regional Security Services) plan was used to transport him. He was kidnapped,” she said. “However, as much as the Prime Minister voices her concern in relation to the deafening silence by Caricom over this fiasco, closure and accountability will never be revealed or take place via other regional bodies—inclusive of the Barbados Government, the Police Service in Barbados, or the Caricom Secretary General—as this would lead to utter embarrassment that no country wants revealed to the world.”

“I wrote to the secretariat of Caricom asking what happened. How could you have facilitated the kidnapping of a T&T citizen? Please let us know what was happening and how it happened. To date, that was 2022, I have not had a response from the Secretariat,” she said during her speech.

How many supported? "If Venezuela attacks Guyana, the US is allowed to use T&T bases."

They all were silent.

T&T has a huge crime problem: drugs and guns. Criminal organizations now operate on a scale larger than many of these islands.

What can CARICOM do ... "Call the Caribbean Sea an area of peace."

She is trying to solve T&T problems; CARICOM cannot.What has CARICOM achieved? T&T is the major contributor of funds to keep CARICOM alive.

I support her stand.

@Slipfeeler

"The great Eric Williams"successfully used the "divide and rule" ploy to take Trinidad and Tobago with his PNM party,as we all know that party ruled TT for more than 50 years,till this day TT haven't recovered form that "divide and rule"ploy.

Kamla Persad Bissessar and her UNC is not doing badly to bring TT back to a better position.

@Slipfeeler

PM Bissessar should not have been invited in the first place. She already did a world of harm with the Venezuelan situation and she and her UNC has never supported Caricom lest we forget her infamous quote in their first term " Trinidad is not Caricom's ATM".

Your Jamaica PM Holness is a big disappointment too as his speech was just a prelude to pm Bissesar's main event. It is only fitting that the two countries responsible for the fall of the WI Federation over 60 years ago are now precipitating the downfall of its watered down successor Caricom. Sad.

Cuba has provided education for our citizenry and essential medical assistance for decades. Even the St.Kitts/Nevis Prime Minister and Chair of Caricom Dr. Terrence Drew was schooled in Cuba. Now we are turning our backs on them in their time of need. All this talk about communism is hypocritical as TNT and USA and all of the Caribbean trades with communist China and have Chinese investors. But when you poor you suck salt. Cuban poverty even moreso than Venezuela was created mainly by crippling US sanctions over the past decades. Marco Rubio needs to recuse himself from this Anti- Cuba push as he is tainted, being a first generation Cuban exile.

All of these sanctions have not changed anything for decades except lead to increased poverty on the masses. Why not try a different approach and lift the transactions and reach out to the Cuban Government to have them consider democratic change in exchange for investment opportunities. Then the people might start to speak up for change.

Shame on these Leaders. Doubt they represent the consensus views of their respective countries.

Can I teach you something...?

 " Trinidad is not Caricom's ATM".

T&T is the major supplier of funds to keep CARICOM afloat.

It is only fitting that the two countries responsible for the fall of the WI Federation over 60 years ago

Why not do some history research before making such a comment above?

Cuba has provided education for our citizenry and essential medical assistance for decades

T&T has paid for the Cuban services and noted how they are treated by Cuban security.... They don't.

have freedom and are not free in T&T. They are confined. Why don't you find out how much such medical workers in T&T are paid? They are paid a pittance; the Cuban government takes over 75% of their monthly wages.

Obama went to Cuba: While designed to strengthen ties, the visit also highlighted ongoing disagreements over the U.S. embargo (referred to by Cubans as the blockade) and human rights, which Obama maintained were necessary discussions for a new relationship. This trip marked a major turning point in the "Cuban thaw," featuring a meeting with Raul Castro, a speech on live television, and a visit to a baseball game.

Do some research, and you will see why Cuba got itself in such a position...and the Cuban missile crisis.

I have been to CUBA on 6 occasions; Canadians are restricted and cannot walk about freely in CUBA

Only allowed to reside at the resort and go on approved travel sites. Talk to the hotel workers, and they will give you the true story of what is going on. The Cuban citizens have restricted travel and movement and are closely monitored. Is such freedom to you?

Canada has not agreed to the US embargo and has continued to help the citizens of Cuba for decades. Canada is consistently the top source of tourists to Cuba, with Canadians making up the largest share of international visitors for decades. In early 2025, over 272,000 Canadians visited, and for the full year 2025, Canada maintained its lead with 754,010 visitors.

All of these sanctions have not changed anything for decades except lead to increased poverty on the masses.

You are clueless about what you speak about.

How did CARICOM help out with your cricket?

How many CARICOM countries are success stories and don't have poverty?

T&T PM spoke the truth

2 things that may seem unrelated but highlight the hypocrisy of current 'Mercsn officials.

When Obama made overtures to "normalize" relations with Cuba Trump was front a di line fi buil' hotel.

Marco's whole career is succored on di lie his parents ran from Castro as they left during Bautista 's rule and before Castro started making any headway in the mountains. All is for their personal gain and malice

@sgtdjones

T&T is the major supplier of funds to keep CARICOM afloat.

TnT is also the major beneficiary of a trade surplus of 1.1 billion with Caricon countries. I guess tha thought never crossed your mind? Their 2nd largest trading partners after the US. This does not include the many companies that TNT companies have purchased throughout the Caribbean inclusive of Banking institutions eg. Republic Bank and the many individuals who ply their trade in the other islands and send home remittances.

Why not do some history research before making such a comment above?

The history is already detailed as to the reason for the failure of the Federation. The main reason was the larger islands were concerned that there would be mass migration from the lesser developed smaller islands. The Jamaican referendum to join the Federation failed because of that fear. Then there was the demand that the central Government be based in Trinidad and Tobago. Once Jamaica pulled out, Sir Eric Williams decided that 1-10 equals 0 and disbanded the Federation.

have freedom and are not free in T&T. They are confined. Why don't you find out how much such medical workers in T&T are paid? They are paid a pittance; the Cuban government takes over 75% of their monthly wages.

The real question is does the TNT Government pay them the same wages as their own medical personnel.

All of the medical personnel are freely educated from primary to tertiary. They also receive other benefits. Of course the state must take back something to fund further socialist initiatives. Capitalism is no different. You loan money from the bank to fund your children's education and have to pay it back with interest or else they take your home, land etc. Students oftentimes find themselves in debt even before they start working and never finish paying off their loans until 10 years down the road. Do I agree that the Cuban medical personnel should be taxed most of their salary, no. I understand why they should be taxed something. Education is not cheap.

The mere fact that so many Canadians visit is proof of its attraction despite the many hindrances to its development caused by the sanctions placed on Cuba. CIA operatives are all over so I cannot blame them for being overly cautious. They also want you all to see the nice side of Cuba not the side that has been impoverished due to brutal US sanctions.

You forgot to mention the many who go to Cuba seeking medical care and education.

If TNT is such a successful economy for most then why the rampant crime? Why do so many like yourself seek jobs overseas? Capitalism at work.

@Brerzerk

I actually supported Marco when he ran vs Trump as I wanted to stop Trump and I admired him. Marco needs to recuse himself and let someone else deal with the Cuban situation as he lacks impartiality to deal with this on a diplomatic level.

. Over 60 years since the missile crisis and we still talking sanctions.
