@seaegg99

I understand what you are saying but it does not help that three of these FC teams may well only play 3 games. A longer season would have been more beneficial to young Bowen. I have to disagree with you re Hamilton who is 35 years Not only is he a Leader in the dressing room, but he has performed very well with bat and gloves. He scored 573 with an average of 57.30 in 13 innings while young Bowen- Tuckett had a good season too 412 runs with 41.20 ave.

They could have kept the WIA and blend some senior discards with the youngsters.

I am of the opinion that young Carlton is the best young wk-batman in the region and should be able to make any team. I have followed this young man since u13 when he toured England with the WI u13 along with Jacobs Bethel and others.

The Academy, U23, Combined Campus and u19 should play in a development league, only the top/2 / or 3 from these team should play in the regional tournament.

You said that Alington Hunte was your teacher at school, as good as he was, he could not make the Bim team and had to settle for the Colt team (Bim B). Nowadays every half-baked kid we want to push to an already weak regional team.

He didn't make it because the production of the players above him was of a high level. At what level are the present players performing at? These current players have shown mediocrity to the fullest and can't get any better.

Which of the current players can't be dropped because of there world standard production? Not one Test batsman in the Caribbean is probably rated in the top 50 in the world rankings.

Soon all you will have is a bunch of inexperienced and I'll prepared players walking out to represent.

The cycle continues.

@voiceofreason

If Hamilton is such a leader, why isn’t he Captain?

@seaegg99

Shortsighted decision by WIs selectors just like Bim carrying a bunch of graybeards when the West Indian team is in need of young players. Are they going to get first class experience sitting at home now? We will continue to retread players like Chase, KB, Hamilton regionally etc.

Nuh forget Jason Mohammed and Cariah.

Still………..nuh fret. CWI has hired Otis as bowling consultant. Youngsters development secondary to that.

@tc1

I like your suggestion of a development league like that. But perhaps it needs to be played before rather than contemporaneously with the FC season. Perhaps the best XIII from that league can then form the 7th FC team as a President's XI to reduce the risk of one sided matches.

@PalsofMine

Good suggestion, we need to get back a strong fc system.

@imusic

You don't have to be Captain to be a Leader. Hamilton was Captain before Cornwall but no longer wants that position at his age.

Maybe Greaves could even be a better Captain of the West Indies!

Will be watching to see how he does as captain of the Leewards.

@Trex

Well if he could get the perennial slacker Oshane to bowl something with sense, well hell yeah!

@seaegg99

Our greatest problem is at the youth level where we won once in 25 years, the semi once.

Other national teams have 5 or 6 players who are ready to play in their fc tournaments ,we struggle to produce 1 who is ready to make it into the regional teams.

This kid Andrews was forced in the national team and have fail to dominate at his peer group, but yet we want to nominate him as the next Lara. Let him play with his peer group before he or any others are elevated to the national team. We need good coaches to guide these youngsters; we need our legends to motivate our youngsters not to coach them if they cannot explain the basis cricket.
