Leewards’ Louis discharged from hospital after returning clear CT scans

Thu, Apr 23, '26 at 9:10 AM

Cricket West Indies has reported that CT scans for Leeward Islands Hurricanes’ Jeremiah Louis returned clear results. Louis was struck on the helmet while batting on Tuesday, the third day of the second contest against the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force in the 2026 West Indies Championship.

The delivery that hit Louis proved to be the final ball of the game, as play was abandoned as a draw due to dangerous pitch conditions at the Sir Viv Richards Stadium in Antigua and Barbuda.

The 30-year-old was discharged from the hospital on Tuesday evening into the care of the Leeward Islands Hurricanes medical team, who will remain in communication with Cricket West Indies.

CWI stated that Louis will be monitored “closely over the next 48 hours (Wednesday to Thursday).”

A further assessment will be carried out before the squad is announced for the next match scheduled to begin at the Antigua Recreation Ground on Sunday.

Happy to hear that he is well. I think he should be rested for the next game. His bowling has been under-par although he is a fighter with the bat. Bring in Javier Spencer or Landefort so we can see what they have to offer.

Good to see the support shown by CWI here.

Abandoned the game. Prompt and detailed reports about the condition of the player hit etc.

A vast improvement from when Solozano got hit on WI debut.

Then he got permanently dropped without ever facing a single ball.

Get well Louis. CWI and all West Indian cricket fans have your back.

@imusic

Everything OK but TT is the big loser,yes,, Louis got hit but he was never in danger,he was good enough to kick way his helmet like a ball,i think he required some stitches.These officials are trying to say somebody could have been killed so as to justify calling off the match.Mek all dem involved in pitch preparation answer some questions .This pitch was doctored to give LI a win it backfired tu rass clart.

@granite

his fault anyway.....bat, head and feet were in different postal codes plus he was forward to a short ball. curtly ambrose would have negotiated a bouncer better than that

@granite

You Trinis always whining about something. Give it up already. The Youth almost got decapitated from a length ball that misbehaved off the pitch, where is your concern.

Do you understand the term the 'Spirit of the Game"?

This is incredulous shyte... What is the story behind bad/dangerous pitch-condition.

@Cricket_101

If they were to abandon cricket matches every time a player got hit on the helmet, there would never be an England versus West Indies series back in the days of the 4 prong.

Gavaskar, and his teammates from India on that Sabina pitch must be laughing at the irony of this action.

More irony……players more protected than ever in today’s game. More and more pitches facourable to batting.

@Jumpstart

You claimed T&T fraid pace...

Your team Leeward winds ran to the dressing room complaining ...

It was pace like fire... it was their wicket...

@tc1

Limestone tc1

Notice we didn't complain when batting...

I had bigger cuts when chopping celery...

The REVO did over a lil cut... and hid the player.😎
