Tarnish still cannot bat

Tue, Apr 28, '26 at 8:04 PM

He is still getting squared on to deliveries pitched on middle stump or thereabouts

and is a sound candidate for LBW

A walking wicket at the international level

@sudden

we agree on something....tage's head, feet and bat are all in different postal codes

@Jumpstart

I agree re Tage but runs is runs if he continues to make them he at least has to be given a chance.

Also I thought Tarnish was the best player of pace in the Caribbean with an average of 24 in Test Cricket 🤔

Chase technique has become too loose to be consistent in Test cricket

@WIfan26

When yuh have incompetent bajans at the top like kraigg , chase and shai, two of which average under 30, then that means da Silva is coming in at max 70-5/6. And I mean that mathematically. Kraigg’s average is 32, hopeless is 26, Chase is 25. So we can at most expect to get 85 runs from them in total. They barely get past those scores but for clarity sake let’s say that’s the score we expect them to make every game. Da Silva comes in at #6 or 7 every match so that means he’s coming in at 85-5 at best, many times it’s much worse than that. When Joshua, at Brisbane 2024 came into the wicket, he came in at 64-5….and made 79 from there. Against the same attack that that humiliated Chase, hope and co for 27. I should mention both innings were under lights on dodgy wickets. There lies the difference between somebody who actually knows how to play fast bowling and one whose white ball average is inflated by fielding restrictions. Mike Atherton is a better player of pace than those 3

So Tarnish can only make runs if he comes in when the score is 300-5?

somehow, somewhere that makes sense

@sudden

Clearly reading is not your strong point. I figured. What I do know is that Da Silva made 79 after coming in at 65-5 on a very difficult wicket under lights against the best bowling attack in the world. An attack that decimated a lineup with Chase and hope and thankfully ended kraigg’s test career, fully exposing how bad all three are against pace bowling. If you find he isn’t pretty, go ahead. He’s not. But we all know that Da Silva knows to go back and across to deliveries on a good length and short of a length and not to hang his bat aimlessly outside off stump with his hands and feet facing different cardinal points. I don’t expect Da Silva to rescue the WI every time. As a batsman whose capabilities are only seen as being deserving of the #7 place in the order, he has a legitimate expectation that he wouldn’t be coming at 65 for 5 or even 100-5 on a regular basis, which we all know he has come in at almost all the time

Wed, Apr 29, '26 at 10:42 AM

Wow…Tarnish is now the best batsman in the WI by getting back and across, squared on and plumb LBW

somewhere, somehow that makes sense

@sudden

the bowler who has dismissed da Silva the most is a left arm spinner genius.good lord, you doh consult any stats before you come in and argue nonsense. The second is also a spinner. And I have always qualified my view on Da Silva. He’s the best player of fast bowling in the West Indies. I’ve always said that his technique against spin required tightening

@Jumpstart

To counter your argument Dowrich during the Jason Holder & Friends era was in the same or even worse situations and averaged 29 which is 5 points higher!!!

Furthermore Josh isn’t an aggressive batter where he would tend to play a false shot not to mention he still had Alzari, Roach, Motie, etc. who are no mugs with the bat.

I personally think Josh is one of our better batters in the region but he got sucked into the lure of mediocrity in our cricket!!!

He deserves to be back but he needs to show he’s a cut above the rest!!!

@WIfan26

wow…..29 is so much more from 25. How does this disprove my point about the top order

Wed, Apr 29, '26 at 11:16 AM

@Jumpstart

When yuh have incompetent bajans at the top like kraigg , chase and shai, two of which average under 30, then that means DOWRICH is coming in at max 70-5/6. And I mean that mathematically. Kraigg’s average is 32, hopeless is 26, Chase is 25. So we can at most expect to get 85 runs

You provided the mathematical argument didn’t you 🫠

Wed, Apr 29, '26 at 11:17 AM

@WIfan26

Again…..the difference between 25 and 29 is nothing. One dude you can expect to get 25 runs and the other you can expect 29. That’s really massive I must say. Wow

@Jumpstart

WI won the Miracle at the Gabba by 8 runs 4+4=8 😂😂😂
