Richardson leads Naparima rout

Led by Adasa Richardson’s hat-trick and a brace from Donovan Drayton, defending champions Naparima College opened their defence of the SporTT Secondary Schools Football League Boys Premiership Division with a 7–0 victory over Trinity College, Moka yesterday at their Lewis Street Ground in San Fernando, handing Trinity their second defeat of the season.

Meanwhile, Fatima College fought back twice to earn a 2–2 draw with Presentation College San Fernando, after Aiden McDonald put Presentation ahead in the first minute. Jonathan Mason equalised for Fatima in the 56th minute, but Joshua Ryce restored Presentation’s lead in the 72nd before Jaheim Bailey levelled three minutes later.

St Mary’s College, meanwhile, maintained their perfect start to the season with a 1–0 victory over rivals Queen’s Royal College in the North derby, Josiah Hunte scoring the decisive goal in the 84th minute.

Champions Naparima beaten

Controversial penalty hands Signal Hill 2-1 win

A contentiously-awarded penalty saw champions Naparima College beaten 2-1 by Signal Hill Secondary in Tobago, yesterday, in the Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) Boys’ Premier division.

The result was a reversal, by a similar scoreline, to which Naparima had defeated Signal Hill in last year’s decisive SSFL Boys Premier division match.

Controversy aside, midfielder Akeem Duncan proved the heroics for Signal Hill in scoring both their goals, while goalkeeper Caleb Romeo also produced a series of fine saves toward the end of the game to ensure they stayed ahead.

Naparima, Fatima share points in 2-2 draw

Naparima and Fatima Colleges shared the points in a 2-2 tie when a battle between two heavyweights in the Sports Company of Trinidad and Tobago (SporTT) Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) Premiership Division took place at Fatima Ground, Mucurapo Road, Port-of-Spain, yesterday afternoon.Nerves dominated the early moments as both Fatima–considered to have one of the better development programmes in the SSFL–and Naparima, the triple crown winners from 2025, struggled to find their rhythm.

Angus Eve’s Naparima charges from the southland opted for a patient build-up, but were forced onto the back foot when a cheering crowd at the Mucurapo facility lifted the home team's confidence. A diagonal ball sent Jahaem Bailey galloping down the left side; he unselfishly released it to the unmarked Tyler Edwards, who drove it hard and low past the outstretched arms of Naparima goalkeeper Mikhail Clement in the 27th minute. The Fatima advantage did not come as a surprise, but it placed Eve’s men in a spot of bother, forcing them to show their mettle after losing some ten players from the previous season.

Three minutes before the halftime interval, Naparima striker Adasa Richardson gave his team hope when he connected with a snapshot right at the edge of the Fatima goal area. However, goalkeeper Jadon Pollard tipped it over the crossbar to preserve the score line. Eve’s halftime talk inspired his team, leading to the equalizer early in the second half. From a looping cross from the left side, Naps’ Arron Raymond rose high to head home in the 48th minute.

CIC drop points, Signal Hill lucky again

LEADERS St Mary’s College (CIC) dropped points for the first time in this season in the SporTT Secondary Schools Football League Boys Premiership Division when they were held to a 1-1 end-to-end draw by the exciting Hillview College on a heavy Serpentine Road ground yesterday. However, St Mary’s remain at the top with 16 points from five wins and a draw, one clear of Signal Hill Secondary (15 points) and St Benedict’s College who dropped points when held 1-1 by Queen’s Royal College.

Arima North Secondary (12 points) are fourth, despite suffering a second consecutive home defeat. Meanwhile, the officiating again came under scrutiny yesterday at the Bertille St Clair Recreation Ground, where San Juan North protested an injury-time Jmeke Watkins winner which earned Signal Hill a 2-1 home victory. Signal Hill had benefited from similar good fortune recently when grabbing controversial wins over defending champions Naparima College (2-1) and Presentation College (3-2).

Fatima, CIC renew storied rivalry

It is not often in recent times that the derby rivalry involving traditional North Zone schools has featured two teams in the top half of the SSFL Boys Premiership table, but much is at stake in today’s clash between Fatima College and unbeaten St Mary’s College.St Mary’s top the standings with 16 points from six matches, while Fatima, the reigning champions, are fifth on 11 points and looking to continue their climb.

Fatima’s confidence will be high following their emphatic 5-0 shutout over early league leaders Arima North Secondary, with league-leading scorer Jaheim Bailey hitting a hat-trick to take his season goal-tally to 12. The Saints, meanwhile, were held to a 1-1 draw by another of the season’s early pacesetters Hillview College, but remain unbeaten after six matches with five wins and a draw.

While the spotlight will be centered on the clash featuring meeting Fatima at Fatima’s Mucurapo base, second-placed Signal Hill Secondary will host Queen’s Royal College at the Bertille St Clair Recreation Ground in the sister isle where they have won three matches. Also, St Benedict’s College, third on the table, face fourth-placed Hillview College in another key top-half of the table clash. And Arima North Secondary will be hoping to secure full points against Mucurapo West Secondary,

Meanwhile, other matches will see Malick squaring off against San Juan North, Presentation College (Sando) tackling Trinity College Moka, Speyside facing Trinity College East while St Augustine Secondary play Naparima College.

‘Naps’ host Arima North Secondary

Defending champions Naparima College will look to continue their climb up the SporTT Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) Boys Premier Division standings when they host third-placed Arima North Secondary, today. Naps, who swept the league and InterCol knockout titles last season, have made a slower start this time around with two defeats, but their 3-1 victory over St Augustine Secondary on Wednesday lifted them to seventh on 10 points. Adasa Richardson scored twice and Jacob O’Reilly once for Naparima, who will face an Arima North side coming off a 2-0 victory over Mucurapo West and sitting on 15 points after five wins from seven matches.

Leaders Signal Hill Secondary will seek to maintain their position at the top when they face Trinity College at Moka, Maraval, a place where visiting teams traditionally find difficulty in winning.

Signal Hill moved to 18 points from seven matches with a 2-1 victory over Queen’s Royal College on Wednesday, J’Meke Watkins and Jediael Marcelle finding the net, while Trinity will be looking to improve on a fourth defeat after being beaten 5-0 by Presentation San Fernando.

Second-placed St Mary’s College, dropped points for the first time this season in a 1-1 draw with St Benedict’s College in midweek.

They have 17 points, and will visit Presentation College San Fernando, who climbed to eighth on ten points after their emphatic 5-0 midweek victory over Trinity.

St Benedict’s, meanwhile, will try to close the gap on the leading teams when they meet St Augustine Secondary after Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Hillview College left them fourth on 14 points.
