WIPA don't have the audacity to call a strike. They only call one when certain people are in power.

Where are the blowhards? :-o :-o

Don't want to look bad on WC, which is around the corner eh!

The players are only going on this tour because of the World Cup.

In that case, every time there is a WC the WICB can just tell the players to bend over and get screwed. If the players are willing to do anything for the sake of WC then they'll keep getting the shaft. i really don't see how them adopting this "anything for the WC" stance is going to help them.

For example, if a player continues to make the Same Stupid Shot Selection (SSSS) and gets out, not only should he miss the next test/ODI/FC match (as appropriate), he should surrender his match fee in its entirety.

Can you give me an example in the civilized world of where a worker is fired AND forfeits his pay for time already spent on the job? Does this job attract the best talent? Do you people think before you come up with these stupid, nonsensical, hairbrained schemes?

Well, well, well I must commend WIPA for assisting their partner WICB. I hope WICB would henceforth treat with the Players as Partners instead of the master/servant modis. This is one time the players have come to WICB's rescue - what with the best team on show on Indian Television.

I must say though that the BCCI are behaving without a conscience. Not all times are the legal entitlements the best options and surely a little humane approach in giving a little to us would have served up a healthier constant in World Cricket. It seems that it is now more a matter of money than cricket for the BCCI and kharma would prove their cup to drink - that attitude would not see India up the charts.

Dont mind Windies cricket would survive and we would move up the Chart - the abase would be exalted as the selfish must come down.

By the way, Let us welcome our new Brian Lara of Windies Cricket = the 16 yr old Adrian Bharath. Lara's mantle would fall on him.

And, because the Digicel contract covers all home and away tours (even those outside the FTP), the WICB cannot search for an outside sponsor and must fulfill its obligations, which includes Digicel branding on the players' clothing."

-----------------------------

Thats actually incorrect. The WICB can get a sponsor, but they have to convince Digicel to agree to share sponsorship
( This particular misstatement is constant on this MB),
Generally, Digicel will go along with a cosponsorship, so long as the cosponsor isnt a competitor.
See PEPSI as sponsor for the Indian ODIS:

This, however, does not mean that Pepsi will be the sole title sponsors of the two series, against West Indies and Sri Lanka. They can sell it to other companies like they have done in the past though at the moment it is unclear whether a similar arrangement will be reached for these one-dayers as well. Last year the home series were alternately titled the Videocon Cup and the TVS Cup.

Well, all this talk of incompetency misses the fact that the WICB probably made a profit on the deal.
The full deal is that BCCI agreed to play a fourth Test last year in return for WI participation in the DLP series plus their appearance in the ODIS this year. To figure the value for the deal, the calculation is

AMOUNT OF REVENUE DERIVED FROM THE TEST+
AMOUNT OF REVENUE DERIVED FROM THE DLP SERIES-
AMOUNT OF REVENUE LOST FINANCING THE CURRENT SERIES

If the result returned>0, then the WICB wins.

Of course, WIPA is not happy, since it wants Digicel to pay the players fees for wearing branded clothing in non FTP matches, but unfortunately everyone-including WIPA-signed contracts onbligating them to wear branded clothing in ALL tours.WIPA wants to reverse that, but it has no legal leg to stand on-which is why its trying the issue in the court of public opinion.

NO ONE-including you-foresaw the the issue of whether the players should be paid fees for wearing branded clothing for non FTP tours. Plainly WIPA didnt see it.
They raised no objection to wearing branded gear in the LAST non FTP series-the DLP tour.
They are kind of late raising the issue now! :D
Legally, they have no recourse since the sponsorship contract requires them to wear branded gear on all WICB matches. thats why they are campaigning in the court of public opinion. Who knows, it may work-but Digicel has the legal whip hand.
