Perhaps you should also put to rest your boring and continued vitriolic attacks on Jamaicans and Jamaican culture. You want to be able to continue your unashamed stupidity but frown upon others for regurgitating ad nauseum the "It's the usual Brian Lara this...the players that...Ken Gordon the other..rehashing of "feelings" and opinion".

Get a life and stop making a complete ass of yourself!

kudos and more kudos, power and more power, to cc.com for shining the glaring light on wicb. and by the way, his divine holiness, the emperor, the hon. and reverend ambassador dr. lara III, the beginning and the end of west indies cricket, amen, is just one of the appalling diasters issuing from the incredible incompetence of wicb.

there are those, the sycophants and batty lickers, those who profit from wicb handouts, contracts, largesse, who will be most displesed.

TOUGH!!!!!!

time to shout the truth, again and again, for it is the only hope there is, to rescue west indies cricket from the very bottom of the pile.

thank you kindly mr. samaroo

Hail Tendulker, the greatest batsman the world has ever seen!

Tell me which batty I am licking now. Yours? Sorry to tell you frank but frankly speaking I am more straight-forward than that. Forgive me for disappointing you.
I am touring India with Di Boss of Test cricket, His Excellency Prince Charles, in 2009. Tendy adores him and publicly speaks well of him, holding up the prince in high esteem.

You cyar do that. Instead of getting vex, spend your time batty licking samaroo

Tendy aint in the top 50 batsmen of all time....

For Samaroo to illspeak and degrade Lara's credibility is hitting the prince way beyond the boundary.

Question: Who gives Samaroo this right? Freedom of Speech?

Samaroo what about your credibility? Do you have the moral authority to write this way about Lara?

Yuh want meh to tell all about you here? This is yet a small place; ah doing you the favour by staying here and not going in the dailies?

So tell meh, yuh ready for me to tell all about your credibility? Who have glass house should not throw stones!

Ah taking a phone call and will be back to tell all in yuh ole skunt

At its core, moral purpose is about relationships among people, and moral purpose comes alive through leadership actions that inspire, motivate, and energize people. Repeated calls from Captain Lara for players to lift their game continue to echo with a hollow resonance because Lara lacks the moral authority to lead. Talk of Lara's knowledge, talent, and experience simply misses the point. No one is questioning Lara's ability but, rather, the lack of credibility.

This is Lara's third unsuccessful stint as captain, and Lara has stated that he intends to play test cricket beyond the age of 40. When asked at the press conference in Guyana whether that meant that he intended to stay on as Captain, Lara was visibly irritated and declined to answer the question. If Lara truly cares about the future of West Indies cricket, and there is no reason to believe that he does not, then he would step down.

Another piece of bullshit. Another piece of manipulative moralizing that serves no purpose but to pick at the bones of the dead.

The Windies are just another sports team; not a church; not an army, not a government. Lara is not Christ,. All he wants and can expect, is that the members of the team selected to represent the West Indies turn up and give a 100%. If they do that and is defeated, it can be then concluded that they are just not good enough. If they give less than 100, it has nothing to do with Lara's lack of moral authority; the onus and responsiblity for performing as a team rest with the individual players.

When a bowler is given the ball, the decison to place the ball in the right spot has nothing to do with Lara's morals. When the decision is made by a batsmen not to play a ball on its merit, but instead execute a rash stroke, it has nothing to do with Lara's authority as captain, nor as moral leader. The same can be said about any other facet of the game.

The fault for failing to put out rest with those who select them, but ultimately with players.

Outside of ability and technique, there's attitude. Ponting alluded to that.

If many of us on this MB can be a bit more introspective, rather than what Larr said and now this Samaroo, the Windies team is a reflection of us. Just take some time to digest what is written here, and ask ourselves why should we expect anything better from the team that "represents" us.

I don't want a moral leader in Lara to lead a cricket team; I just want him to do his best with the team he has at his disposal, and for each member of his team to be mindful of his role and responsibilities, and give the maximum at all times.

Neither Steve Waugh, Mike Bearley, nor Clive Lloyd, not even Christ could lead this team to win this World Cup.

it is amazing how new age moralists like to pontificate...

tsk tsk tsk

I do not entirely agree with this post. While there are problems with leadership from WICB and Lara, much of what happens in the middle have to do with the players ineptitude. Of all the players in the Windies squad, only Lara will play on other major cricket teams, Chanders will play on some, this clearly indicate that the others are not good enough. Mr.Samaroo believes that our guys are as talented as the others, maybe so but potential is just what it means, "by virtue of ability" it does not mean that one would necessarily be successful. Windies players have not produced, most of that blame must go to the individuals who are paid to do their work, they must have the pride and drive from inside. Captains must be inspirational but I doubt that Ponting or Smith can do much with this bunch, one cannot draw blood from stone. There is one problem that we all have to face, reality is that our guys are not nearly as good, that is an undeniable fact.

In regards to WICB, the Windies have been playing terribly since about 1992, the board over that period have made several personel changes, Rousseau, Hall, Braithwaite, Gordon, there have been different managers and also coaches, all of this in an effort to turn things around. This is actually mirroring the performance on the field, I say so because if the team were winning I do not think that there would have been so many changes at the top, no organization makes many changes at the helm when their team is performing creditably. While Player-board relations are not good today, it was worse in the glory days, in some cases there was no relations, yet the players of the past perform at the highest level. Some will argue that personal have changed but the status quo remained but I disagree, Gordon, Rousseau etal have done things differently but have not resulted in onfield success. My Samaroo did not touch on the complaints of managers and coaches (all west indians) about the attitude od several players over the years, neither does Ramnarine, we must wonder why. Sir Everton Weekes believe that WICB have failed to root-out indiscipline amongst the players. Indisciplined players who are not as skillful won't make for much success.

This is what WI is all about! People from different parts of the WI voicing their opinions, some agreeable to others and some not. It is no different when it comes to cricket, we all have likes and dislikes, however, very really would someone come out and make a suggestion to help rectify the cricis in WI cricket that has been for the past 12 years to present. We need to be proactive instead of reactive. We can point fingers at the WICB, Lara, selectors, coaches, and players, the same way we can point fingers at government leaders, churches, clubs and so on and as time goes by, nothing will change. Is there unity in the Caribbean? Is there unity in our respective countries? Is there unity in our hearts? If the answers is yes to all these questions, then I will put blame on the WICB, Lara, selectors, coaches and players! Lets face facts, WI CRICKET is only a reflection of the way we live in the Caribbean. No respect, no discipline, lack of commitment and focus, etc., etc., the only thing WI people takes seriously is party and intoxicants. This is exactly the manner in which our cricket is being played today. My suggestion is that we are all aware of the situation in regards to WI cricket, lets start helping by voicing our opinions and being proactive in helping to rectify the situation. Starting with myself, I've made some suggestions on other headings and websites and let's hope that the WICB and everyone involved could learn a thing or two from us the fans.

Are you a victim of your own ignorance or just decidedly sarcastic. Like you stated and like everyone else I simply wrote what I had in mind. In other words, long before you were merely a foetus, I was already emancipated mentally and physically.

Now go back and read your post and remove the splinters from your eyes and try again to appear intelligent!!

He captured the essence of the problems ... with this
....It is, therefore, frighteningly ironic that these disorganizers could have only spared the great man one sentence - something about declaring the World Cup open. Perhaps, they were too preoccupied with surrendering broadcast rights, and agreeing to ridiculous stadium rules and outrageous ticket prices that saw most games being played with half-full stadiums bereft of that carnival atmosphere that has become so much a part of West Indies cricket.
