I wonder if those who are asking him to leave remember his scores in his last test series?

My hero since I was a very young boy.

I've followed his career since de afro days at Fatima. Missed classes to watch him bat.

This is a sad day for me.

Why retire now when he is still the best test batsman on the team?

Thanks for all the memories when you had all West Indians living on the edge of a blade. You carried the torch of the immortal WI batsman lit by Atlas himself and like Atlas, you finish your career lifting the world on your shoulders.

An exit as majestic and graceful as his batting.
Undoubtedly the greatest batsman of his generation, and a great ambassador of this beautiful game.

Let us hope the farewell match will witness a Lara classic. And let us hope we will see, with him, a resurgence in cricket writing and commentating of the involving, well-articulate kind.

I've been happy for him ever since I knew who he was. Man he was the reason i support West Indies. He is the reason i became a cricket fan.

I would stay up all night and day to watch him bat. Now..i'm going to make me a cup of tea and watch the 400* DVD one more time.

Cheers Brian. The joy he brought to us, well the english language hasn't come up with a fitting enough word.

They remember, and they can't stand the thought of him doing more of the same! 8)
