Must be one or two to be pulled from this list. Look to the right and scroll down past the entertainment topics to "Writers" and "Scientists/Educators". (Good to see Pork Pie and Desmond in there, still.)

Good one "To Sir With Love"
In reply to Admin... I can't believe no one has mentioned the truly great late Norman Beaton. Empire Road and Desmond's are two UK television shows that were very memorable. However this being a cricket site check out Playing Away. I saw this when it was first aired and it has stuck in my memory to this day for many reasons.
There were some fabulous theatre personalities back in the 80s who used to play to packed houses at the Cultural Centre and Theatre Guild and drew huge audiences to various radio dramas.
Andre Sobryan, Ian Valz, Jasper Adams, Margaret Lawrence, Ron Robinson (already mentioned), Richard Naraine off the top of my head.
In reply to JohnDoe
One of the greats.
_r
Andre was one of the few openly proud gay men in Guyana at the time. An amazing talent.
Valz penned House of Pressure and some other classic works. Great playwright.
Jasper had great comedic timing. A master during the Link Show.
Maggie was an over-actor but still had her moments.
Ron was mostly a director. He was the master at bringing the best out of this group.
Richard was a comedic genius. He is my uncle (father's younger brother) and I saw him rehearse all night up close. I view him as a legend.
Good memories of my childhood.
_r
In reply to Admin
Godfrey Naughton, Mahadeo Shivraj <-- two more actors from that era.
In reply to Admin
Ah your uncle eh? For me his most memorable performance was as Captain Von Trapp in The Sound of Music. Everybody wondered how they were going pull that off when it was announced they were going to stage The Sound of Music at the Cultural Centre but maan that was a boss production with top notch performances.
I thought I would mention those guys since I saw people listing actors who made it big overseas. We had some serious home grown talent.
ANyone mention Wordsworth McAndrew
I loved his stories
In reply to ray
He is already mentioned.
_r
How is Dr. Paloma Mohamed compared to the Sobryan's et al.
In reply to doosra
Paloma was a neophyte during that golden era of theatre in Guyana. She came late to the game. She was more of a 'beauty queen' before turning to drama.

In reply to cricketmygame
How many 'antiman' jokes can one man make? Seems to me that Guyana comedy these days have whittled down to lame antiman jokes.
I suggest y'all up your sense of humor game.
