Chahal to Brathwaite, no run, huge, huge appeal from Chahal and the whole of Bangalore. Brathwaite is pinned to the crease to a flat zooter. That has to be close. That is gone in fact. He was right back in the crease, played across the line and the ball skidded on to hit the back pad in front of off. Loud boos across Chinnaswamy

Chahal to Brathwaite, out Bowled!! Chahal's got him the very next ball and he is absolutely pumped. This is serious drama in Bangalore. A beautifully flighted leg-break which drifts in on leg, the ball dips on Brathwaite, lands away from him as he slogs and sneaks under him.

Philip and Polly in opposing teams

Narper 2017-04-09 12:23:05

Kolkata Knight Riders 178/7
McClenaghan to Narine, OUT, ....anti-climax. Yorker at off stump from around the wicket, gets him on the toe in front of off stump and the umpire raises his finger. Even though replays showed he got a big bottom edge on that.

SP Narine lbw b McClenaghan 1 (2b 0x4 0x6) SR: 50.00

Narper 2017-04-09 13:24:26

Narine to Sharma, OUT, a lot of legbreaks this over, and Narine has foxed Rohit with the offbreak. Goes on the back foot and it hurries into him. Big lbw appeal as he plays all around it, given immediately, but CK Nandan shouldn't have. Huge inside-edge on that - two poor lbw decisions in successive overs.

RG Sharma lbw b Narine 2 (6b 0x4 0x6) SR: 33.33

Rajpoot to Pollard, SIX, short outside off, and Pollard will feast on these chest-high offerings. Swivels and pulls hard and flat over the midwicket boundary. Super shot. Short balls need to get up around shoulder or head high to test Pollard

Rajpoot to Pollard, 2 runs, back of a length on off stump, clipped away to the left of long leg

Worl Boss !!!!!!
Jadeja to Gayle, SIX, Jadeja gets his man. But, this wicket should belong to McCullum. Hang on! It was a low full toss outside off. Gayle stays in his crease and doesn't get hold of his lofted drive over extra cover. B-Mac at long-off runs to his right and takes a flying catch. The Lions are confident. The umpires want to go upstairs. Soft signal is Out. Oh wait, did his floppy hat make contact with the rope? Oh, yeah. What a shame! Baz's brim of the hat saves Chris Gayle. The southpaw has a big smile on his face as he comes back. He gets six runs as well. Even, Kohli came and shook hands with the SUPERMAN to applaud his effort

mikesiva 2017-04-18 11:03:56

Jadeja to Gayle, SIX, helllooooo! Fired flat, good length at middle stump, in the arc for Gayle who gets down on one knee and nails the slog sweep to get it over the square leg boundary
Jadeja to Gayle, FOUR, this is a strategy, it's not working. Full outside off stump again, hammered wide of long-off
Jadeja to Gayle, FOUR, this is full outside off stump as well, this time he hits it aerially to bisect Jadeja and Kohli

Chris Gayle: "It was great fun. Good to be back. I wanted this so badly. 10000 runs was on my mind. Badree told me before the match that I am three runs short. It's a privilege to actually be the first to score 10,000 T20 runs. Pleased to get 77 runs. Hopefully we can finish off with a win tonight. It (10,000 runs milestone) was actually playing on my mind a bit but once I got there, I thought it's time to have a go and it eventually paid off. I have a great bat, the Spartan bat. Virat batted well. Great partnership between Jadhav and Head. Hopefully the bowlers can utilize the wicket; variation is key on this wicket. The bat I got to 10000 runs with be in the auction and the money will go to charity. I wanted to use a gold bat tonight (laughs). Look for the Chris Gayle foundation... Very dramatic. From 65/1 at a stage where it looked like we could be in for a night full of runs to getting all out within the 20 overs. With just double the number of runs. Makes them the first side to get bowled out batting first this season. Some dismissls were ugly, some foolish and some just set up brilliantly.

All that after Narine unleashed some nasty blows upfront, making it look like fun, but now Kolkata need him for his primary role.

When it's not Watson, it's Head.

1.6 Unadkat to Head, OUT, inside edge? No, bowled, in fact. It seems as though the ball has missed everything initially. There is a noise as the ball goes to the keeper who catches it. They go up in appeal and it turns out the bail had been dislodged. Just the bail, the stumps aren't really dislodged, so not immediately visible to the naked eye. Head perishes for trying to play an ill-advised cross-batted shot. through the leg side. It was too full to do it and angling in to him as well

Match tied (Super Over in progress)

( Mumbai Indians won the one-over eliminator)

Narper 2017-04-29 14:39:16

Mumbai Indians were coasting along, suddenly lost plot and nearly the game, then just about recovered to push the match into the super-over.

Pollard threatened to take the match away from the Lions' grasp, Faulkner pulled back with two strikes. 12 was the target and the big hitting GL batsmen might have fancied their chances.

But Bumrah had other ideas, he started with a no-ball, then followed it up with a wide - but kept his cool and delivered for his team - with a mix of yorkers, slower ones and full tosses. In the end, Mumbai just about held their nerve and emerged victorious - with this win, they move to 14 points, just behind KKR on net run-rate.

Narine to Warner, FOUR, playing around with one of the best T20 bowlers in the world. Gives himself room and lifts the ball over cover. Nonchalant. Easy. Sensational.

Narine to Warner, FOUR, runs to the pitch and gets there. A full delivery on middle, Warner hits it hard, flat towards long-on. Pandey runs across, somehow gets a hand on it and the ball goes away for four. Fantastic effort from Pandey

Narine: Yes I'm very surprised. Definitely wasn't expecting something like this. Lynny just said, keep your eyes on the ball, maintain your focus and swing through the line. I try to keep it simple and back my ability. That wicket was key (AB de Villiers) and pulled them back a bit so I'm happy. It was a total team effort. Bowlers stuck to their plans. Umesh's was a key performance too.

Gambhir: Haven't seen such a partnership to be honest. It was an unbelievable effort. This is the best partnership I've seen in my entire career. You don't see teams getting hundred in six overs. He (Lynn) must be the hardest hitter in international cricket. The way he played today after coming from injury shows how mentally strong he is. It was the team management's call (to get Narine opening). It was some of the best hitting I've seen.

And he does it with a jump, a one-handed raise and taking it as cleanly as it could. Forget the boundary run-ins and throw outs.

19.6 MM Sharma to Pollard, 1 run, another cracking yorker that tails in late to take thick inside edge to fine leg. Fifty for Pollard, but not good enough
19.5 MM Sharma to Pollard, no run, sensational. A knuckle ball that dips on Pollard as he looks to swing this over the off side, the ball dipped on him to beat him. Stunning execution under pressure
19.4 MM Sharma to Pollard, no run, brilliant! Low, dipping yorker which Pollard can't get underneath. Dug back to Mohit on his followthrough
19.3 MM Sharma to Pollard, no run, low full toss, swung away to long-off. Missed the yorker but found the fielder on the bounce. Pollard refuses the run

Well, he refused to run on the 3rd ball of the over, only to take dots on the next 2.

Afterall, his batting partner was Harbhajan Singh, not a chicken.

11.6 Thakur to Samuels, SIX, That top edge seems to have got Samuels going. This is a length ball outside off, he clears his front leg and clobbers it towards the sightscreen. Unmitigated swing of the bat. Don't count out Samuels

11.5 Thakur to Samuels, SIX, The top-edge clears long leg and lands on the Delhi dugout. Banged in short and outside off, chest-high ball, Samuels hooks late and gets away

11.4 Thakur to Samuels, 2 runs, banged short and outside off, mis-times a pull to the left of deep midwicket

11.3 Thakur to Samuels, 2 runs, short and very wide outside off, Samuels reaches out with his hands and stabs it away to the right of sweeper

The rain, buffeted by it, is falling almost horizontally. Looks like the kind of weather that makes you double-bolt the door and hide. The good news though is that we can wait until 1.20 am to complete this game. KKR's target, if it is reduced to a five-over chase, is 41.

Narper 2017-05-17 12:58:36

Okay, the revised cut-off timings are:
20-over chase: 11:50pm
5-over chase: 00:58am
Super Over: 1:20am

Discourse 2017-05-17 14:32:54

12.00 am So we're past our first deadline of the night. The chase will definitely be curtailed. We can hang on to our seats until 12.58 am for a five-over game - for which KKR's target will be 41 - and wait on until 1.20 am for a Super Over. If absolutely no cricket is possible despite all that, Sunrisers win since they finished higher on the points table.

Narper 2017-05-17 15:14:08

The target for KKR to win is 48 in 6 overs.
There will be two overs of Powerplay as well.
That would mean only one bowler will be allowed to bowl a maximum of two overs.
