Regional 4 Day

Rahkeem Cornwall slapped the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force bowlers to all parts of the National Cricket Centre yesterday to score his maiden first-class century and lead the Leeward Islands Hurricanes to a convincing five-wicket win in the final match of the Professional Cricket League Regional four-day tournament.

The 22-year-old Cornwall hit 11 fours and six sixes as he slammed an unbeaten 101 off just 84 balls to lead the Hurricanes to 245 for five having been set 241 for victory a day earlier. The visitors entered the final day two wickets down and lost two more in the first hour as Marlon Richards struck to get rid of overnight batsman Montcin Hodge (29) and Imran Khan sent back Jahmar Hamilton for his second “duck” of the match.

Akeal Hosein accounted for the Hurricanes’ skipper Devon Thomas (57) to put the Red Force on top but Cornwall flipped the script. He could have been back in the pavilion early had Shannon Gabriel held on to a difficult return catch but instead the attempted catch left the T&T pacer with an injured hand and T&T without one of their main bowlers.
