WICB Under Scrutiny Ken Gordon has turned to a familiar face to take the corner office at the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB).

Bruce Aanensen, a well-known Trinidadian banker who last served as manager of the "Soca Warriors" football squad at the 2006 World Cup finals, has been appointed chief executive officer with effect from April 16, 2007.

Aanensen is a retired director of RBTT, a current VP of the Queen's Park Cricket Club of Trinidad, (a post he has held for a total of fourteen years) and a former manager of the West Indies cricket team for benefit matches.

As a banker, Aanensen has a wide knowledge of the Caribbean, serving as Chairman of RBTT's Grenada and Caribbean operations. He has also served as Director of Group Human Resources of RBTT and Director of that company's Corporate Office, as well as President of RBTT Roytec, the company's corporate university.

"This is a challenge but one which I welcome. I am dedicated to the region and to all the sports that we play. However, cricket remains my first love and I have always wanted to help the West Indies team regain its place at the pinnacle of World Cricket," Aanensen said.

He effectively replaces Roger Brathwaite, who resigned in March 2006. After a long search, the WICB named Barbadian Dr Roland Toppin as the new CEO but he withdrew suddenly in January, citing "previously unforeseen" personal reasons.
