Findlay is new WI team manager

Team Selection Former West Indies chief selector Mike Findlay has been named manager for the upcoming tour to England.

Findlay, a Vincentian who played in 10 Tests for the regional side in the 1970s, will take control of a management team that includes interim head coach David Moore and assistant coach Hendy Springer.

It is not clear if there is a role in the new set-up for Clive Lloyd, who most recently served as team coordinator.

Stephen Partridge, the incumbent physiotherapist from Bennett King's staff, will also make the trip to England.

Meanwhile, an earlier report that new captain Ramnaresh Sarwan has been placed on probation is "incorrect," according to a source. The WICB originally discussed the idea of a probation period but decided against it so as not to burden the new captain.

Instead, Sarwan's appointment is only for the tour of England. After that, his performance will be evaluated.

Sarwan is expected to join the selection panel in Antigua today or tomorrow to pick the full squad for the tour.
