WIPA: Players will sign contract

West Indies Players Association The West Indies Players' Association (WIPA) says the team picked for the tour to England will sign the standard match/tour contract "subject to the decision of the arbitration panel."

"Our decision above was made purely in the interest of West Indies Cricket and our players. However, we wish to reiterate that the pre-tour contractual negotiation has been unsatisfactory and must again ask that this not be repeated," WIPA said in a statement released today.

An arbitration panel chaired by Barbados chief justice Sir David Simmons will determine whether the upcoming West Indies tour of England is considered part of the ICC's FTP (Future Tours Program).

The issue was sent to arbitration after the WICB flip-flopped on its earlier position that the tour was outside the FTP and required the approval of the West Indies Players' Association.
