Lloyd set to chair ICC cricket committee

Former West Indies captain Clive Lloyd is set to take over from Sunil Gavaskar as the chairman of the ICC's cricket committee.

According to published reports, the decision will be announced in Dubai at the ICC's annual conference on Wednesday. Gavaskar had quit his position earlier this year because of media commitments.

The only other contender for the job was former Pakistan batsman Majid Khan, but the reports said his nomination has been withdrawn.

On the agenda for the meeting:

  • Discussion on the Future Tours Programme after May 2012.
  • Decision on amendment to code of conduct levels 3 and 4.
  • Decision on West Indies player Marlon Samuels who was banned for two years by West Indies Cricket Board disciplinary committee.
  • Discussion on the playing condition for the ICC Champions trophy 2008 and ICC Twenty20 World Cup.
  • Selection of replacement to Sunil Gavaskar as the next chairman of the ICC Cricket Committee.
