GEORGETOWN, Guyana, CMC – Trinidad and Tobago rebounded from a middle order batting collapse before clinching an exciting two wicket win over Jamaica to secure top honours in the Twenty20 phase of the Regional Women’s Championship at Providence Stadium on Monday.

T&T slumped to 38 for the loss of four wickets after their bowlers restricted Jamaica to 100 for seven in their 20 overs, but skipper Merissa Aguilleira with a top score of 26 revived the innings enough for her side to scrape through to win with four balls to spare.

Aguilleira collected a four and a six in compiling her 28- ball innings while Anisa Mohammed chipped in with 21 before she was run out.

Vanessa Watts (2-17) and Shanel Daley (2-13) grabbed two wickets each for the Jamaicans.

Jamaica plunged to 37 for the loss of five wickets after they won the toss and elected to bat however their innings were rescued by middle order batters Tameka Sanford and Chinelle Henry who scored 33 and 35 respectively.

Mohammed, who was named player of the match, picked up two wickets for 15 runs and Shenelle Lord two for 23, to help to turn the tables on Jamaica, who finished in second position.

Barbados secured third position in the tournament after a convincing nine wicket win over Windward Islands.
