Robert Haynes has resigned as head coach of the Jamaica national team with immediate effect, according to information reaching CaribbeanCricket.com.

The sudden resignation of the long-serving coach comes less that 24 hours after Jamaica finished the 2005/06 Carib Beer Cricket at the bottom of points standings.

Haynes, 41, has been coach of the Jamaica cricket team since 1998 when he took over from Rohan Kanhai.

He has had an up-and-down record with the Jamaica team over the years, but the internal wrangling in the team this year was apparently the straw that broke the camel's back.
