A West Indies cricketer partying at the Bananas night club in Grenada on Friday night was accosted and threatened by an angry fan brandishing a gun, according to information reaching CaribbeanCricket.com.

The player was part of a group of mostly Trinidadian players at the club when "an obviously intoxicated man," firearm in hand, used threatening language in an aggressive manner.

Media outlets in T&T are reporting that the player was West Indies captain Brian Lara but team spokesman Imran Khan confirmed that the West Indies skipper was not involved in the incident.

He declined to identify the cricketer.

The firearm has been seized by the police and the man is in custody.

Khan said there were no team rules broken during the incident, which involved a small group of players.
