Spuds, Bravo: WHO calls on gov to prepare for Ebola

ToldUSo 2014-10-02 12:13:45

Here is a useful project for those with influence or media contacts in Jamaica, Trinidad and Guyana, folks like Spuds,Steve, DukeStreet, Larr, Bravo et al.

If Ebola hits the Caribbean like it just hit the US, it would be all over for you since your countries are ill prepared to fight this disease, either from lack of money or logistics, this would be the beginning of the end for many 3rd world countries.

This is not an indictment, but Caribbean governments tend to be "manana" governments, so you guys could either put together a plan to present to the gov and the media or get on the radio and raise concerns for preparedness from the governments.

Some of the plans these governments should be putting in place now are:

1. Identifying treatment and isolation centers away from communities.

2. Contracting for 1 day deliver of beds protective unis for health care workers and attendants.

3. Lobbying the US and other Western nations for aid directed at these services.

These are important lessons to be learned from Liberia.

I disagree

Ebola in the Caribbean will be so much never see come see over the top reaction by govt that it will be quickly isolated and contained

What Are the Symptoms of Ebola?
Early on, Ebola can feel like the flu or other illnesses. Symptoms show up 2 to 21 days after infection and usually include:

High fever
Headache
Joint and muscle aches
Sore throat
Weakness
Stomach pain
Lack of appetite

As the disease gets worse, it causes bleeding inside the body, as well as from the eyes, ears, and nose. Some people will vomit or cough up blood, have bloody diarrhea, and get a rash.

How Is Ebola Diagnosed?
Sometimes it's hard to tell if a person has Ebola from the symptoms alone. Doctors may test to rule out other diseases like cholera or malaria.

Tests of blood and tissues also can diagnose Ebola.

If you have Ebola, you’ll be isolated from the public immediately to prevent the spread.

How Is Ebola Treated?
There’s no cure for Ebola, though researchers are working on it. Treatment includes an experimental serum that destroys infected cells.

Doctors manage the symptoms of Ebola with:

Fluids and electrolytes
Oxygen
Blood pressure medication
Blood transfusions
Treatment for other infections
How Can You Prevent Ebola?
There’s no vaccine to prevent Ebola. The best way to avoid catching the disease is by not traveling to areas where the virus is found.

Health care workers can prevent infection by wearing masks, gloves, and goggles whenever they come into contact with people who may have Ebola.

Good for you, Trinidad seems to have lots of money to attend any problems.

Meanwhile here in the US it seems we badly mishandled this Ebola problem, watching CNN, it seems to get worst by the minute.

Doctor Boards Atlanta Flight In HazMat Suit To Protest "Lying CDC"

“Once this disease consumes every third world country, as surely it will, because they lack the same basic infrastructure as Sierra Leone and Liberia, at that point, we will be importing clusters of Ebola on a daily basis,” Mobley predicted. “That will overwhelm any advanced country’s ability to contain the clusters in isolation and quarantine. That spells bad news.”
