Whats that ? A ranking system ?
Lebron hasnt won a championship without Wade and Bosh
In reply to Commie
My top 5....Cav on top.
Labron is possessed by many demons.
Nice to see the over 35 crew out in full force on opening night; Timmy, Manu, Dirk & Kobe
Almost feel sorry for the Lakers.
Its going be a long year.
In reply to Commie
Don't worry about the speck in your brother's eye when there's a log in your eye.
Confine your concerns to the directionless Celtics.
Spurs looked good without Leonard and Splitter. They just keep rolling on.
As an Orlando supporter, I'm already looking forward to 2016.
In reply to Commie
an de rookie Randal gone quick so.
Chicago Bulls will come out of the East. The Spurs will win it all again.

Boston has a great future. GREAT. If anyone falls off the wagon, Boston will be there with picks and expirings to pickup.
Very few teams have that flexibility and even less are poised to be the next champion.
Middle of the road purgatory awaits the WIZ.
In reply to Admin
Thibodeau overworks his teams. One of the biggest lessons people need to look to Pop and even Spoelstra for is their minutes management of their players.
Chicago will most likely lose at least a couple players along the way to the brutal minutes that Thibodeau levies.
Incidentally, Scotty Brooks has the same problem, except for Thibs at least you can argue a defensive scheme which is taxing is the reason. Scotty just lets em play and forgets to sub.
In reply to Admin
Miami to come out of the east! Bosh will prove to allya he is a real big three
Bulls over Cavs
Spurs over Memphis
The West is going to be brutal. I also like Memphis. Clippers/Thunder will falter. Dallas will surprise a lot of people.

How Bruno doing?
_r
In reply to Admin
not a clue, havent been around for the preseason...but i expect very little of Bruno this year.
Cavs will meet Spurs / Dallas / OKC in the final is my call.
SPurs or dallas would win, If its OKC, Cavs wins.
Dallas have everything.
Superstar scorer - check
Robin like scorer - check

I love your enthusiasm about Boston but you guys have a long long long way to go. Without Rondo you're approaching 76ers like territory without as much potential in your youngsters.
In reply to defeyeant
Danny was supposed to be god two years ago. Just wait, boss. He will fleece everybody next year. Or the year after that. Or something.

In reply to Commie
A true Celtics fan would look at what the San Antonio Spurs have done and get angry instead of spouting that "acquiring assets" propaganda year after year. Now that's an organization that has shown how to manage and win with aging stars.
Who knows how many championships Celtics might have left on the table with their wrongheaded strategy.
In reply to Commie
Celts over/under around 29
Knicks around 38...I think they will be over
In reply to ray
summuch as 29? unless dem playing Orlando and Philly 12 times this year I got dem pegged at 24 tops
In reply to JohnDoe
You really have to apply perspective.
Boston has 17 championships. Spurs have 5.
All of Bostons championships have been with franchise players. All of Spurs championships have been with a franchise player.
Both Boston and Spurs tanked for Duncan. The Spurs got him.
The two other franchise player prospects, Len Bias and Reggie Lewis (who would have been a mentor and fellow franchise player next to Pierce) died before they could have an impact on the league.
LUCK plays a large part in a franchise. The other part is simply having the assets to be ready for when something falls apart elsewhere.
Kevin garnett did not want to come to Boston. Ray Allen was the piece that convinced him. That 2008 was one of the most dominant defensive teams of all time and were very unlucky that Garnett got injured the year after and that Perkins also got injured in 2010 when we were leading 3-2 in the finals.
WIndow closed...and Danny had to reboot.
That he has put himself in position in the very same way he did in 2006 is pretty outstanding, but people forgot that he took 3 years collecting assets like the corpse of Theo Ratliff and drafting Al Jefferson, all of whom turned into Garnett and Allen.
Someone somewhere is going to fall off the wagon. Might be Cousins at Sactown being disgruntled playing for a perennial loser. Might be Durant in OKC. Might be Dwight at Houston if they go nowhere again this season (Morey used to work for Ainge).
Whatever it is, Boston has the largest amount of pick assets collected in the modern era. That has value.
The Knicks ? The Wizards ? Do you really believe you are going to win it all. ANd if not, how long you think it will take before that team breaks up. A winning Lakers and Boston team had 5 years window each. Whats a losing Knicks and WIz got ?
In reply to Commie
revisionist history sir. The Spurs did not willfully tank. Franchise player David Robinson going down with a major injury and Sean Elliot your number 2 player also missing half the season is not tanking. Its like saying the Lakers tanked for a high pick last year cause Kobe went down.
In reply to defeyeant
The Spurs tanked tanked tanked.
You could say they also got lucky, but once they realised they werent going to make playoffs they shut that team down.
In reply to Commie
I think the Wiz are well poised. This middle of the road purgatory you speak of, is that what the Mavs went thru from 2001-2010? Becos all those years in purgatory is what helped them become the franchise that won it all in 2011. Building a contender takes years of work for most teams, the exceptions were the Heat in 2010, Celtics in 2007 and Lakers in 2008.
Young teams like Wiz and Raptors need lots of playoff experience. Veteran players chasing rings are more likely to sign with a team that is consistently in the playoffs than a lottery loser that has a lot of assets.

Wizards are far, far way from anything better than a #4 or #5 seed. John Wall is legit and the backcourt is coming around but that's about it. Nene is old and injury prone. Paul Pierce is done. Gortat is middle of the road.
Need a bigman second banana and that's in very short supply*.

* Unless Kevin goes home :\
In reply to Commie
At the beginning of the next season, star player David Robinson, aka The Admiral, aka the platonic ideal of an athlete, was battling back spasms, a nagging injury picked up in the preseason. Six games into the regular season, Robinson broke his foot in a home game against the Miami Heat. Robinsons ship officially sank.
Then, Sean Elliot, the Spurs forward, who averaged 20 points per game the year before, succumbed to right knee tendonitis and only ended up playing 39 games for the team that season. For a player nicknamed Ninja, this disappearing act would prove opportune for San Antonio. Finally, a player with a name like a bad alias Chuck Person, San Antonios other forward also sat out the entire year with back spasms.

Exactly what defeyeant said.

Wizards]Wiz
Have a look at their roster.
You are looking at now. Beyond this year and next, what is the huge potential they have ?
Their best player is possibly Wall.
When you consider that the Bucks and the 76ers are growing potent teams with real star potential.
The Bucks with Parker, who is Melo on offense, the Greek Freak and John Henson, and the 76ers with Noel and Embiid, plus Saric and a set of cap room and a strong brand.
And none of those teams have won anything in the last 20 years.
Building a championship team is tough.
In reply to Admin
Look...even Barkley called them out back then.
The ONE bad season in 20 years of that franchise happens to be the one that a franchise player was available...and it was just cause of injuries. Are you peeps naive or what.
They were banged up but they also tanked.
They had the third worst record in the league. Their roster was better than that even with Elliott and the admiral out.
In reply to Commie
Don't tell me bout yuh 17 championships most of which were won before I was born. What have you done for me lately???
In reply to JohnDoe
The Wizards last won when and are going to win when ?
I bet you the Celtics will win another title before the WIZ and the Knucks. And I will throw in Orlando too and the Raps
Unibrow + Asik. Wow!

Commie is my new best friend now. Heh.
Those Cavs have to develop an identity....or Bron will bail on them again
Long way to go.
Where is Mario Chalmers when you need someone to yell at.
Knicks are on the board.

In reply to Admin
Melo and Jr came up big.
Cavs don't have a rim protector.
In reply to Commie
Should've been an and-1 too.
_r
Real nice game by Knicks
its just a flesh wound! Cavs will bounce back
In reply to defeyeant
Maybe not tonight vs the bulls though
In reply to Commie
what doesnt kill you makes you stronger. Bulls-eye on the Cavs. things will get better or Lebron will pack up im bags and run way
In reply to defeyeant
The one thing Wade and Bosh did was to take the pressure off Lebron.
People forget how he collapsed mentally vs Boston.
Thibs wont
In reply to Commie
Cavs really into the loyalty thing though. Varejao 30 mil for 3 years as a 32 year old centre who has been brittle the last three years?
In reply to defeyeant
Varejao is actually a very good role playing center and better than anything Lebron had in Miami at C.
They are paying market value. Unfortunately he gets injured often....but hey...Im not complaining
End of last season Lebron said: "It's only basketball"
talent in abundance, but I am not sure his belly has the fires needed to go deep. Of course he has rings now... but in NONE of his finals did his avg. rise much over his regular season output.... a red flag in my opinion.
With Lebron ah just don't feel his fire burns like a real do-what-it-takes champion. The dynamic talent loaded 3-some in Miami was his last ring (as team leader). Sorry bron bron fans.
I await de cuss from Bron Bron fans: Last night, he looked rusty.
Yes, King James looked rusty not ready!
Hope tonight he has a big game.....
In reply to pelon
ok fellas...it's just the first game of the season ...some of you already writing off King James I see
In reply to pelon
Perhaps he's a better adjusted human being.
Players like MJ and Kobe gave up "something" to be what they are
In reply to pelon
The bare truth is that Lebron James is way more than a basketball player.
MJ was basketball first and always.
Lebron is a businessman playing basketball, and is currently in the process of 'owning' the Cavs.
Also people underestimate how great Dwayne Wade (one of the top 10 shooting guards of all time imo) and Chris Bosh (one of the top 20 SF of all time) were and what they contributed.
Kyrie Irving is a gunner who doesnt defend, and Kevin Love is a great rebounder and scorer who plays zero defence.
Going be fun to watch though.
In reply to ray
If I remember correctly the Heat in 2010 the first year of the big three didnt start off that great either. think they were around a 500 team and they went on to the finals so you are correct is early days still for the Cavs
In reply to ray
Lil WD40 will cut the rust
I have Chicago in my top 5.....they are running with James right now
Bron Bron going to have to do a lot of work this season.
In reply to Commie
I disagree...Cavs got a good overall team...they just have to get to know each other more, which will come as the season progresses
Otto Porter had a big game tonight and has been overall good these first three games. Hope Randy Wittman rewards him with bigger minutes.
It's a shame Kobe will likely finish his career on this shit team. The offensive performance he put on in the 3rd quarter last night reminds me why him and MJ are in a different class from LBJ.
btw, golden state are the only team I will watch whenever I can in the regular season. Those guys play an exciting brand of ball.
In reply to 1Desiabnu
Kobe is getting exactly what he asked for. He wanted a salary that gave them no cap room until next year.
Couldn't happen to a better set. He is playing great though.
I like Golden State too but I love the lunch pail bball of Memphis and Dallas are growing on me.
In reply to Commie
I'll never understand why he did that. He's probably the 2nd richest NBA player ever.
Dallas got the key from their title run back in Tyson Chandler. Last year they pushed SA to the limit and probably should 've beaten them. I look for them to go all the way.
In reply to 1Desiabnu
Kobe is nearing the end. He wanted dollars.
Never know if wife going ketch you again
Rick Carlisle is a great coach.
I'm very surprised they got Parsons as well.
The West will be brutal.
In reply to Commie
you heard about Kryie asking if the Bulls game was like a playoff game? lol
Shows how much work there is to be done in Cleveland. At least in Miami Wade had won a championship before and Bosh had been to the playoffs. Here both Love and Kryie are raw raw raw
In reply to defeyeant
LeBron going to have to carry that team mentally.
He is already in owner mode
In reply to Commie
I'l probably get some flack for this comment but I've seen the 'experts' predicting Cleveland will be in the NBA finals. I don't think so.
This is a team sport.
Nice game against the Knicks last night. Not a man played over 30 minutes. That is almost Spurslike.
In reply to JohnDoe
Pierce as efficient as ever.
Marcus Smart is a ferocious defender. He's already better than Shumpert.
_r
In reply to Admin
waiting to see him tonight. If the Raptors play the crap they play against OKC last night Boston got this one well in hand.
Watching the Raps vs Celtics.
Early days again but it looks like the Raps need a dynamic post player.
Maybe not against Boston but against the elite teams.
In reply to Commie
correct! all summer I was saying they needed to get bigger. Stiesma and Bebe as your backups a centre aint saying nthing. good game by the Celts though, I was impressed.
In reply to defeyeant
This Boston team wont be remembered by the time Danny carves it up to build the next championship team.
How the fact can a point guard have zero assists in 45 minutes of play??? I'm speaking to you Kyrie Irving.
In reply to JohnDoe
You can only get an assist if someone makes the shot.
_r
In reply to Admin
He doesn't pass unless he is in trouble on a scoring route.
In reply to Admin
Granted I only looking at the box scores, yuh telling me that in 45 minutes you can't find a man in position to make one easy shot?
So is David Blatt going last the entire season as Cavs coach ?
Question. The nba has declared it will be testing for hgh amongst other performance enhancing drugs this season. Could this be why so e players have lost a lot of weight and muscle mass in this offseason?
In reply to Commie
you might be onto something
surprised by Wizards tonight. thought they would have put up more fight. Like what I se of Otto Porter in his limited minutes though
In reply to defeyeant
What limited minutes?
Just looking at the box scores here. Porter got and has been getting big minutes. Like how Randy is exploring to see what he has on his bench. This is the east. No need to fight for every game this early. Once again, not a man played over 30 minutes.
In reply to Commie
If Cavs were in the west, then you would have to worry about them. Fotunately this is the east, so they have another six or seven weeks to figure things out.
In reply to JohnDoe
sorry only watched the first half. he probably played about 10 minutes then. didnt check the box score.
did not realize how badly Philli sucked til I saw them today (free tickets). There are college teams that would hurt them
In reply to defeyeant
They on 2nd year of a three year tank
Without looking, guess the three 20/10 players in the league so far. Don't look, just guess.

Why did you look? steeups.

Some surprises: No Blake, no Howard, no Aldridge, no Jefferson.
_r
In reply to Admin
i didnt look at all.
In reply to Admin
Less than 10 games. Its a very small sample.
After 30 games...now thats a pretty good model of whats happening.
In reply to Commie
Me and my buddies do a pool to predict 20/10 players. By all star break, then again end of the regular season. I like checking this stat every week. I expect the players named above to join the list by the allstar break. I expect Bosh to drop out.
_r
In reply to Admin
I dont.
Bosh sacrificed his game for Lebron.
He really IS a 20/10 player given he is now playing Center in a team where he is the primary rebounder.
People dont reealise how good Bosh is. A top 20 PF all time.
In reply to Commie
Check this stat.
_r
In reply to Admin
Incredible.
See that true shooting %.
If Dwayne Wade doesnt have his annual breakdown they might just have a great season.
Luol Deng is no Lebron but he is a very good player.
And Ayenmols guy Napier might actually get a start by end of season. His defence has been impressive.
hell even Chalmers playing better
