so what happens

If the WICB doesn't pay up? What legal standing does BCCI have in a court of law to make the WICB pay?

My understanding is nothing. Too many holes in this case - like the bcci directly engaging with west indian players, refusing to accept a second string team, etc.

They might refuse to tour the west indies, but that's about only what they can do.

And if they refuse to tour the west indies, can the wicb in turn sue them for damages?

My sense is, nothing will happen.

Seems a hollow threat... But the problem is if WICB fights it and wins BCCI will still squeeze them in cricketing matters. Already they had cancelled some of the tours, and they would even go to any level.

I agree.

Though I think, the WICB should fight it. There's no way these damages should be paid, given that the BCCI refused a second string side, so that can be construed as them deciding to call off the tour.

Regarding BCCI cancelling upcoming tours to the region, the WICB should in turn sue them. I sure the ICC has provisions in place to make sure the FTP is adhered to.

Though of course, it would be better to settle this amicably.

The WICB has tried to do that, with an unconditional apology to the BCCI and Indian cricket fans.

BCCI seems to be on a war footing here, if they want to squeeze us, we need to fight

Given the poor state of the WICB finances, I wouldn't use the word "only"....

WICB are really slow Brian... They had waited too long. By now a Representative team from WI should have been in discussions with the BCCI (Before the issues escalated to the current 42m) and another team working with the players and WIPA to work out the other issues.

You can say I am not anti WICB but if I was the CEO of the an organisation with such crisis I would be pursuing both these options to minimise as much damages as possible.

As of today a good 2 weeks since the debacle, No progress or action items. Nothing whatsoever. Even now, WICB should be engaging some senior people who can talk sense to represent WICB and meet the indians.

WICB is talking to BCCI and trying to mend fences.

BCCI will use the damage as a leverage!

That is good to know. There is no news in media yet. There is no news about the Fact Finding panel too,

Yeah, the right thing to do would be to mend fences.

I thought the unconditional apology issued by the wicb was a step in the right direction.

But knowing how arrogant the bcci is, they may not budge. In which case, the wicb would need to fight back, and make sure they don't have to pay a single penny to the bcci
