Turn up to airport this morning for a non stop flight to Barbados to be told that the flight is going to St Lucia first and is scheduled to arrive in Bim at 8:20 instead of 7:30. My connection is 9:30.
As is always the case, the agent is unconcerned and unempathetic, telling me that I should allow a 3 hour connection. I tell them that that is why dem get cuss.
Everyone please keep fingers, toes and other body parts crossed that they stick to the schedule.

LIAT going to make me smoke weed
In reply to Yamfoot
I am here trying to visualise you with a bighead spliff in your hand , coughing away as you send off a cloud of smoke around you.
In reply to Yamfoot
1.There is no competition against LIAT
2.It is Government owned so if they lose money it does not matter.
3.Nobody at the airline cares.
Now,both of us know that number 2 is not true but..............
In reply to Yamfoot
I understand you, but in all fairness, we all know LIAT backward, once you going connect, try arrive plenty plenty hours before connect flight.

True...but you have to look beyond LIAT to understand the problems with LIAT. You have to look at the selected governments (specifically the PMs) that control LIAT. Ironically, it is these same governments that have quite a bit to say about the running of windies cricket.
In reply to JOJO
Especially our padna comrade ralphie.
Why do you need LIAT for that? Just enjoy on your own.

When Governments own an airline it is a recipe for disaster
In reply to Dukes
I can name a LOT of government owned airlines that are wildly successful.

In reply to Admin
Lemme hear them so we can work out how they are successful while BWIA, Air Jamaica and Guyana Airways all went the way of the DODO BIRD.

I can name a LOT of non-government owned airlines that are wildly unsuccessful.
In reply to Dukes and Admin
Fixed that for you.

When the Argyle International Airport opens around the middle of next year , you may not have to deal with LIAT again Near the Airport there will be the Petroglyphs made by the Caribs .
BTW , next year visit SVG and go to the Botanical Gardens , one of the oldest in the Western Hemisphere . It is going to celebrate the 250th year of its existence .
If you do go take a trip up to Fort Charlotte and get a great view of Kingstown . The Cannons there are pointed Inland because the British were fearful of attacks from the Caribs .
In reply to Yamfoot
Smoke the weed any how...LIAT is a poor excuse for an airline and dont deserve dat Hhhonour!

Thanks , Season Greetings to You also .
Sometimes I reminisce about my days in Bim
having on Saturdays , Coucou & Flying Fish , Pudding & Souse . Those were the days .
In reply to jen
My understanding is that she has gone to some of the Grenadines . Not Bequia however . Perhaps she may have gone to the Grenada Grenadines , Carriacou ; and Petite Martinique .
Generally you can only go to Petite Martinique if you go there with someone who has family there . It is a Hell of a place , No Police Men ; No Custom Officers . You get off the boat and go about your business . When I went there , it was the first time I saw a four mast Schooner .

Mayreau, with a view of the Tobago Keys on a clear day is perhaps the finest vista on earth. When I sit near the water reserve, right in the small bay - with belly full with fresh fish from the only restaurant on the island... you can't ask for better. Mayreau is paradise. I have slept in the bay (sobriety optional) countless times.
Paradise I tell you. Only parts of BVI come close. Abaco in Bahamas too.
I have been to the Botanical Gardens and Fort Charlotte and Bequia and Tobago Cays. I'm a well travelled Caribbean girl.
BTW. ..even though my plane and Caribbean Airlines arrived within minutes of each other and I had to clear Immigration and Customs without my checked luggage, me and it reached to Kingston as scheduled. It just takes being an assertive Jamaican to make things happen.
In reply to Yamfoot
Assertive Jamaican???
Redundancy???
LOL
In reply to Yamfoot
I am delighted to hear that you & your luggage arrived safely in Jamaica . Nice to hear that you visited the mainland & some of the Grenadines .
In reply to pelon
I unfortunately ,have never gone to Mayreau , or Canouan , I have only been on boats
that stopped at both to drop of passengers .
I also have not yet gone to the Tobago Cays .
As I stated here sometime ago , a couple days before I was to go , a rumour circulated is St. Vincent that the underwater Volcano near KICKUP JENNY was about to break the surface , and possibly spawn a Tidal wave . I therefore , did not go .
When I went to Petite Martinique from Carriacou , the boat passed Morpion , which is a Sand Bank , about 20 ft long and a thatched umbrella in the middle .
In reply to Yamfoot
Liat or no Babylon hairline for dat matter should ever be aligned with herb ,cargo hold business only fi dem..Fyah!!

Brother Point, I would sleep well eternally if my end was on Mayreau with "Kickup Jenny" erupting rather than a Hospice some years later....
You owe it to yourself to go visit these tiny, beautiful gems. The two large Bays in Mayreau have water so clear, so blue you feel as if you are IN a magazine.
I sail through every year, sometimes twice - so stay tuned - I WILL come for you. Some of the best fishing is around the south of the Cays
We take these things for granted.
In reply to pelon
Of course you and know that the water isn't really blue.....right?
In reply to Yamfoot
Clear is more apt. Azule... Sure the water technically has no color, but it is beautiful. We have to get Point out dere. How is your trip...
In reply to pelon
Great!
