You see, they need West Indies cricket to remain relevant in the whole T20 scheme of things around the world. The few international T20 and ODI games keep them on the world stage, and the little practice keeps them sharp for the lower level T20's, like the IPL. If not picked or they retire, they soon disappear into oblivion, so they have to fake interest in West Indies cricket, just to prolong their marketability in T20 leagues around the world. That is the only reason why the big left hander did not pull out in support of his friends.
The one doing remedial work on his bowling arm, came to a West Indies tournament to test it. Not satisfied, or whatever, he withdrew from the world cup squad and returned to remedial work. He will soon resurface at the later end of another West indies Board tournament, the 4 Day Professional League, and test his action again, just in time to be ready for the IPL; that is where the interests lies.
That generation of players, influenced by the vindictive past Union leader must go very soon in order for West Indies to have the slightest chance of a return to any form of competitiveness. Their minds have been soiled against the WICB to a point that cannot be healed, and they are not conscious enough to understand how to separate the struggles with the Board from that of the field. They have no clue of history or the people of the caribbean and our struggles; they have no clue that caribbean people fight for and with their heroes. They do not know how to fight without going too far so as to destroy the very product. That generation did the least work, earned the most and caused the most destruction.
In a region like ours, one has to be prepared to walk carefully; the slightest misjudgement in words or deeds could break up the Federation, or dismantle the Caricom or West Indies cricket. The big stick used by the union leader was avoided by wiser men before him who wanted to use it but knew the consequences.

Why not retire from all forms

Why you so hard on Sammy
In reply to Maispwi
Since posting here, i made one direct reference to Sammy; that the selection of such a mediocre player as captain and the acceptance of that selection by the region is a clear manifestation of the low cricket standards in the West Indies; in previous times a selection like that could not survive a day. Any other references to Sammy were expressions of disgust in the names some people chose to call him because they opposed his captaincy. Thus, I fail to see the relevance of your mention to Sammy of my post.

Sammy has given the blue print for all other WI players to follow.... Well Done Sammy!!
A lot of players have retired from one form of cricket or another.

Anyone who thinks Ramnarine isn't a major part of the problem is kidding themselves or likes a permanent roro.
My padna says its a conspiracy theory, I say its common sense and a pretty clear pattern.
Anyway...life goes on.

This line is particularly prescient.
They did the least work, earnt the most and caused the most destruction.
Good riddance to that lot.

Good riddance to that lot.
100% in agreement, but the stupid Board members for some unknown reasons have failed to see the trickery and shenanigan of players like Russell, Gayle, Narine, Bravo, and Pollard.
In reply to XDFIX
You could say it applies to the wicb of that same generation too
In reply to Commie
I say again, good riddance
In reply to Pacy
Some of us pay attention to the little things that some are unable to, or deliberately ignore. Sammy gave his heart out, and just wasn't talented enough; he is genuine in his representation and tries HARD all the time, that is the blue print they must follow. The seniors want to represent WI on their own terms.
In reply to Besessar
are you sure about that?
Very good Post, Hope the wicb are aware and take note

How nice... Never knew that Sammy gave his heart out without even bowling his quota ever. There was a time when Bravo was hailed for his passion and 100% commitment on the field. How things have changed.
Good riddance to that lot.
Thank GOD for Clive Lloyd, President Cameron and the rest of selectors.
That lot will play no part in our quest to win the upcoming World Cup. The team will be successful just by their absence.
Semi finals are guaranteed (admin say so) and once there, we have just as good a chance as any to get to the final and win the cup.
Next to go...Ramdin, Simmons, and lil Bravo. They only keep the team back from progressing. May they all be hit by injury or benched during this World Cup. Then we will be cleansed.
And can somebody please do something about that stupidly annoying so called "West Indian Anthem"? Replace it with something more fitting like Eternal Father or something. Anything else other than that sing song shit will be a significant improvement.
West Indies now and forever!!

Excellent post! It's a shame that others cannot see it beyond their boundaries!

Any player who is not a Lara?? / Viv / Lloyd / Marshall / Holding does not deserve any respect or any entitlement. WICB dosent care if anyone is in the team or not as long as they find their Next great.
If you are not of the caliber of those greats and you question you will be discarded. Like Lloyd Said WICB will keep replacing until they find the right people. In the mean time people who can just turn up, get what they are paid and do what are said are enough. Lloyd has made a successful WI team in the past. He will do that again and WI needs to do is to agree and do as he says.

You know the irony of Rudder tune?
When it gets played as a WI anthem it is one of the main sources of revenue for him because in Trinidad that tune is one if the most heavily pirated tunes ever.
So you should endorse the man making a lil coin.
In reply to Commie
Hahaha! Trini to de bone!
In reply to StumpCam
Funny isn't it.
Rudder spoke about it on a radio show in NY once.
In reply to Commie
That's what has gotten us into trouble in the first place.
You self said the WICBC is to blame fpr building their team around the interlopers.
Why not let someone else "eat a food"? It's time for Rudder's drivel to be consigned to the trash heap where it firmly belongs. Give someone else a chance. We've been mediocre ever since that garbage was appointed WI anthem. Make that change!
You do advocate others "eating a food" right?
In reply to imusic
I know you being sarcastic. ..and whiny but please to leave Mr Rudder and his song alone
In reply to Pacy
Say it loud.
Dotties are hard of hearing.
In reply to imusic
Rudders song is excellent. It isnt being played because it is somehow the best of a mediocre bunch. Luckily for Rudder, the more his song plays in the public domain under the West Indies brand, the more money he makes. Thats a great thing considering how much thievery there is of his copyrighted work and how good his song is.
In reply to Commie
Shouldn't the WICBC follow your advice and allow someone else to "eat a food"?
Is not like Rudder "anthem" inspiring the team to higher heights.
If anything, since it was instituted, the team's performance has plummeted. If we saying good riddance to old baggage, shouldn't this be among the suitcases?
In reply to imusic
A clever ruse of an argument there. Even in my worst trolling moments Ive never been accused of suggesting dropping an anthem on the basis that it affects team performance.
Nah...lets just drop players after they have had substantial long term runs and not produced much.
But if you can make a tangible obeah linked timeline to Rudders song, maybe you can sell that.
In reply to Commie
Drop everything associated with the losing streak.
Time for a fresh start. U can even use the "B" term (blow it up) if you want.
Get rid of the first set of bad seeds. Mission accomplished
Get rid of the final set of bad seeds. Soon come
Trash de trash (anthem).
Put something positive and uplifting and REPRESENTATIVE in it's place.
Maybe Hee salop would be apt. Anything but that Rudder stuff
In reply to imusic
Maybe you need to know the definition of Hee salop before you push your alternate vision.
Heady stuff from you though.
For a moment I thought all these Trinis leaving the WI team would leave you belching sarcasm and being all trite. I was wrong. The strength of your WI support never wavers, as does your support for your IPL team KKR Super Challengers ?

not T-20.

A thoughtful and lucid analysis of our journey-men cricketers and their puppet master. Well done boss..
In reply to imusic
Take the two Bravos. Take Ramdin. Take Narine but don't take the Anthem Man.
Michael Holding falls in the heat of the battle
"Michael shoulda left long time!"
I heard an angry brother shout
Caribbean man, that, that, that is the root of our trouble
In these tiny theatres of conflict and confusion
Better known as the isles of the West Indies
We already know who brought us here
And who created this confusion
So I'm begging, begging my people please

did anyone notice how hard sammy was cheering when WI was fighting in the 4th ODI? He was the greatest supporter in the WI camp
