HEADLINE: Dwayne Bravo's Retirement Speaks Volumes of the State of West Indies Cricket

CaribbeanCricket.com 2015-01-31 19:43:33

Dwayne Bravo has retired from Test cricket at the tender age of 31 years. In a statement, he spoke of the “difficult time” cricket in the Caribbean is currently experiencing and reiterated his desire to represent the West Indies in the limited overs format.

As per ESPNCricinfo he said:

Today I am announcing my retirement from Test cricket. I have already informed the [West Indies Cricket Board] of this decision and also indicated my desire to continue to represent the West Indies in the shorter formats of the game.

Over the years, with the greatest enthusiasm, I have done my best with the deep awareness that I am ultimately representing the people of the game.

I recognise that this is a difficult time for all of us. Our people of the region have seen and enjoyed great cricketing days but we will not return to glory until we agree to go forward with our love for the game and the respect of the administrators, players and the public.

A well balanced article. Outside of 20/20 bravo was never a superstar but could still have contributed more for the WI. The article went into the reasons for that shortfall.

Thanks for the Link , I don't think that the Media Super Stars would be kind to Dwayne Bravo especially since they are in a Symbiotic relationship with the Emperors ;
to the detriment of Cricket in the Region .
of Cricket forever , nothing else matters
Make no mistake , these are the Twin Cancers in Regional Cricket .

One is only interested in being in the governance of Cricket Forever ; and making sure that absolutely none of its powers are diminished . It relishes setting up our Players to fail in the International Cricket Arena , so then everyone can blame the Players , for poor Batting ; Poor
Fielding ; Bowling & Catching .

People in the Region , don't know that Our
Players play less Cricket in all the versions of the game ; than their opponents .They don't look in the weeds ; if they did , they would see & realize , that our Players are not fully competitive ; because
they are not playing enough Cricket .

Those in the governance of Cricket in the Region are the people empowered to get Sponsors , so that our Players can play more Cricket at the Regional level . But rather than seeking Regional Sponsors , they prefer to tell us that they don't have
any money at every Twist & Turn . They have been stating this for many years now ; this is unacceptable .

The other ; is a collection of individuals who claim to be Sports Journalists , but in actuality , are the Cheer Leaders for the absolutely Worst International Cricket Board in the World ; aka the WICB . Their
job is to excoriate the Players , while little is said about those in the governance of Cricket in the Region . They refuse to do what needs to be done to make
our Players fully competitive .

TWO FC matches since 2010 says it all. Why announce your retirement when you weren't interested enough to try to play that format?
