Flushable Baby Wipes: environmental catastrophe

FanAttick 2015-03-26 21:00:01

Chris Hayes on MSNBC is showcasing this horrible mess...an eye or ass opener however you want to look at it...

Spare a thought for those sewerage treatment plant workers...

They are not supposed to be flushed as far as I know

JimBob 2015-03-26 21:21:25

NO flushing!

I always knew those things were not flushable (don't break down right away)

Manufacturers market them that way to make money

Actually these are the ones marketed as flushable and for bigger people. The real baby wipes are not flushable...

Even the flushable ones are a problem

They will flush in a perfect system under lab conditions

Very dishonest of the manufacturers as most cities' systems are archaic/overburdened

That was the gist of the Chris Hayes program on MSNBC last night...

Years ago (1963-64-ish) when I covered the Commission of Inquiry into the Harbour View Housing Scheme I learned the difference between sewage and sewerage...

One is the material that the system transports/treats.

The other is the system itself. wink

.... and so we can say either "the sewage treatment" or "the sewerage" (which is the system that treats the sewage).

They are not dishonest.... just taking a futuristic view during R&D. Would you build a new manufacturing plant that caters to archaic and antiquated technology that is already or will become obsolete in the very near future?

So true! Privatisation does not necessarily or usually mean a better life for the people; it means more money in the pockets of the privateers -- including those who appoint them!
