a decent human being. You see the interference from the WICB regarding Shiv? That's just the beginning of the nonsense. Run for the hills Phil!

Phil Simmons!! Resign forthwith please!! You are
think it is too late for that. shud have stayed put with Ireland.
but, to do it now will take cricket sized balls.
In reply to Walco
The management of our cricket is like some 'bad long running soap opera'
In reply to cricketest
I would not be surprised if he's missing Ireland right now.
In reply to Oilah
WICB undermined coach and selectors in one fell swoop. Stewps!!
In reply to Walco
U sound surprised by wicb action
In reply to Jabari18
Not surprised. I felt Phil should have stayed away fro that coaching job before he accepted it. Now that he's gotten a taste, I'm suggesting he resign. One of two things will happen. Either the WICB will back off and let him and the selectors do their jobs without interference, or if the WICB accepts his resignation Phil will get out of an impossible/unworkable situation before it's too late.
By the way, the selectors should resign too, just like they did back in 2007-2008 over the Gayle captaincy issue and forced the WICB to back off.
In reply to Walco
Phil should have made the right decision in the first place.
In reply to Curtis
The lure of going back home and trying to resurrect the team you grew up cheering and actually played for can be irresistible.
In reply to Walco
Are you saying that Phil was part of the panel that did not select Shiv?
Did it ever occur to any of you that the coach and selectors made the wrong decision?
bullshit thread...come better
In reply to sudden
Yes, the coach is part of the selection panel. Also, it was reported in the press that Phil had a meeting with Shiv after the last England test.
Coach's call
In reply to cupid20d
Stay off mi thread if that's all you can contribute ... and I'm being kind calling that a contribution.
In reply to Walco
He knew what he was getting into.
The WICB are micro-managers, it is going to take a long time to chance that mindset.

That's it...?
Lloyd and Simmons are on a collision course...
Print that nuh...Watch the ride!
In reply to black
Yes, but I reject the position that there's a right or wrong decision here.
And it's not like it was a big secret that a decision had to be made about Shiv's future. The WICB could have made their wishes known to the selectors before they dropped Shiv, no? The board has now publicly embarrassed and undermined the coach and selectors.
In reply to Walco
He should not resign for that but so for soliciting/entertaining criminals that cost the WICB 42 million !! That's why he should resign

Isn't that a little too strong?

Perhaps you forgot that it was the WICB (Pybus) that called off the India tour after the WICB's request that the BCCI threaten to cancel the IPL contracts of the WI players was rejected. But that's another discussion altogether.
In reply to Walco
He must be careful about leaking stuff to Mamchan as a fait accomplit.

I am trying to figure out your position on this
In reply to black
Saboteurs may be a more appropriate word for their ilk..However, they effectively looted $42 Million for the WICB and the WI public---Which company/organization would allow such Miscreants to come back in their fold?
In reply to Commie
How you know Phil was the source of the leak? I was hearing the same thing before Mamchan's article was published.
In reply to buds
Mistake were made, maybe we should look at the root cause
This has been a thorn on the side of WI cricket for a long time
Time to put a stop to it
In reply to black
If by "this" you mean the India tour cancellation, I have maintained all along that cancellation of that tour could have been averted if Dave had taken that short flight from Dubai to India and spoken to the players. Leadership matters.
In reply to TheTrail
Man spit it out nuh! What put Lloyd and Phil on a collision course? Disagreement about Shiv's future?
I don't think this is such a big deal as some peeps are making it out to be ... calling on coach and selectors to resign.
It happens in organizations where decisions down the hierarchy are made by those heads with the focus entirely on the results they want to see for their area of control and how it benefits them personally. It is not always with the view of the entire organization in mind.
That is why there is CEO or other figureheads who has to now take those pieces and look how they fit into the big picture and betterment of the organization. They have to vision the macro optics considering all factors including politics, the greater society and in this case fans etc.
If true, I am not saying the decision is right or wrong but I would think an executive decision of this magnitude was taken with all things considered including the roles of coach and selectors.
Seems like coach and selectors threatened to resign and Dave and his henchman backed down
In reply to black
not really...JAckie prefer to sanction eye witness first hand knowledge of posters..me..about what I saw about a cricketer who missed their op ...ie Xavier and imply that a law suit should/could follow for bringing said cricketers known issue/s to disrepute cause I asked if he still has "issue/s" .
capiche?
so surely..Jacksprat can prove that the lads at WICB are criminals.
now if lying is criminal...He has a historical case if not an actual case...but Mikey say they lying too...so..
In reply to Walco
Yes you are so right about that
In reply to black
You negotiate at the table with a competent representative and not after you agreed in principle then sabotage/extort the WICB and PUBLIC for $42 million because you are illiterate and incompetent to have decent representation. Or maybe, they do not understand basic English--What they about a fool and money?
Stick tuh yuh guns Phil!! Mek Dave and his cabal hold a corner and leave you alone to coach your team!! If 12 becomes 13 and #13 is put there by the WICB, resign and go see if Ireland still has an opening for a head coach.
In reply to buds You had me fooled. I felt sure you were talking about Cameron, Pybus and co. when you were talking about criminals costing us $42M. Certainly the BCCI seemed to be of that mindset. They were happily entertaining Bravo and Pollard at an IPL final yesterday while keeping Cams a healthy distance away.
In reply to Walco
Ireland has a new coach, John Bracewell.
In reply to Walco
who tell you Phill is different.
he was the one that went public about his "chat" and "sit down" with Shiv. the most stupid WICB related PR since Camron's tweet.
He fits right in with arrogant unprincipled scum bags who chose him.
In reply to Tagwa1
Someone I trust who knows Phil and the scumbags well tells me Phil's a good guy. I think his dream of returning to his home team, and helping to lift that team to respectability again, overwhelmed Phil's common sense. That makes him human like the rest of us.
