QUICKEN LOANS NATIONAL 2015
TIGER IS PLAYING SOME GOLF NOW FOLKS!!!!
After starting out quite poorly with bogeys in 3 out of his first 4 holes, Tiger has birdied 6 out of his last nine including the first 4 on the back nine. He is now -3.

Animalllllll. ...
INNA DEM ACKEE TODAY!!!! Fist pumps, club twirls, leg kicks, birdie bombs and all that Jazz!!!
Ishikawa and Fowler closed really well today and are -11 and -10 respectively. Chappel is also at -10. Tiger is in a group stuck in 5th at -8.
Now Tiger needs to shoot at least -6 tomorrow to remain in contention. I suspect that tomorrow will be a bit harder based on pin position and so forth, but by the time he tees off, barring weather, the course will be at its hardest.
He is teeing off at 12:20 pm tomorrow (Ja time). He is going off with Charles Howell III.
I will not be posting tomorrow much if at all as I got things to do. Fanattick....hold the reigns till Sunday. Hopefully, we will be going off late again on Sunday with a real chance to win it all.

I'm on a road trip until Sunday but will try my best to check in sporadically. Hopefully Animal can sustain the momentum tomorrow..
Tiger Woods pars the first couple of holes to remain @8 under...but has lost ground as a couple of low early rounds(including a course record 61 by Troy Merritt) has him 6 back. Leader is now 14 under.
7 straight pars for Tiger..horrible off the tee all afternoon...scrambling like crazy...still 6 back...one positive no bogeys so far..
Spoke too early..Tiger bogeys the par 5 8th..drops back to 7 Under...
Tiger's play is enough to make someone jump off ah bridge

Meltdown mode on the back nine..double bogey followed by bogey drops him back to 4 under. .10 shots back. .fat lady gawn home. .
Tiger: Two steps forward and one back, may be some form of progress, but not sufficient to compete at his once high level.
Still more adjustments are needed to perfect his game and regain the confidence to win at all, or on any regular basis.
Two fairways hit so far
+4 on his round

Finally a Birdie..on 15
5 Under..9 back
Followed the birdie with a bomber inside a foot on the par 3 16th...back to back birdie coming up
Tiger bogeys 18 to finish at minus 5... 3 over par for the day and seemingly out of contention...
He was fighting a left miss from the range apparently. I wonder why that was? Hope he goes under par tomorrow and can back door a top 20.
That flop shot was world class, Sir Nick got muted from seeing it.
Much better start from Animal...back to back birdies gets him to 7 under..long eagle putt coming up..a birdie here would get him to 8 Under and 6 back of the lead..
Converts the birdie...8 under..through 5

Did you wake up, the sleeping lion?
Great players always rebound from adversary

Let's see...not much of a chance to win from here but a top 10 finish would be nice..
Animal makes a 42 foot bomb on the par 3 ninth hole..gets it to 9 under ...4 under on the front nine...still 5 back
Back to back birdie to start the back nine..now 10 under par..4 back
I am following. But I am too nervous to say anything. This is phenomenal.
If he can post a score like -13 or even -14....then this should get really interesting for a top 5 finish. I do not think he will win, but it will be really nice to watch.

No need for nerves..sit back and enjoy the master
Safely on the green with about a 20-25' putt for birdie.
Birdie just slid by.

Bogey
The ball took a 360 out of the hole and he makes a weird bogey. Momentum killed. On to the very tough 12th.
What a recovery!!!! He hit it way right on 12th into this obscure pond and then takes a lash with the 5 wood onto the green. He can even make a par from his position now. WOW.
In reply to dale_staple
Didn't he get a penalty?
Par missed. Does make the bogey putt. Drops back to -8. SMH. Still another 6 holes to go to get something good outta this round.
In reply to FanAttick
Yeah... he hit it into this pond. So he took a drop. Back in the fairway on the 13th though.
Birdie bid slides by on the high side. Read a bit too much break and it never broke. Tiger for par...makes it. Remains at -8 and on to the 14th.
In reply to dale_staple
It's my fault..I started watching when he was at -10
Bogey for Tiger on yet another par 5. Had a great approach into the green, but spun back into the water and made a nice recovery shot to save bogey. See why I didnt wanna say anything. Sigh. All the good work through the first 10 being eliminated now.
2 Putt par for Tiger on the 15th.
2 putt par for Tiger on 16th. 2 holes to go. He looks so deflated. What might have been. Was -10 through 10 and then had a sloppy 3 putt bogey on 11, a terrible drive on 12 which led to bogey and then the worst luck with the approach on 14th to make another bogey. Sigh.
Birdie for Tiger on 17 and he gets to -8 so far. One hole left.
Par on the last for Tiger and he finishes with a 68. The three bogeys in the middle of the back nine robbed him of a real look at the top 10.
I think Tiger will play the Wyndham after the PGA based on what I am seeing here. If he is not qualified for Fed Ex cup after the PGA and he is relatively close, he will play at the Wyndham.
In reply to dale_staple
His play is definitely improved. He is still a bit unsure with that driver but his short game is coming back, and that for me is the X factor in Tiger's game. When he dominated he was the best short iron, wedge player, and putter bar none.
He's got a ways to go and I'm more excited to see him getting back to his best next year.
