HEADLINE: Bassarath ?disappointed? with axing of Trinis

CaribbeanCricket.com 2015-09-05 06:41:17

Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) president Azim Bassarath says he is “very disappointed” with the decision of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Selection Committee to remove compatriot Denesh Ramdin as captain of the regional Test team. Noting further that another Trinidadian Merissa Aguilleira was also demoted from skipper of the Windies women’s team, Bassarath speculated on the rationale involved.

Bassarath, also a Director of the WICB, did not waiver from acknowledging the current friction between the TT CB and the WICB who recently squabbled over the non-hosting of WICB town-hall meetings here. Patrick Rampersad, an Executive Member of the TT CB, went so far as to question whether it was a sign of disrespect shown by the WICB to the local territorial body. Speaking to Newsday yesterday, Bassarath made it clear that he was not part of the WICB teleconference where the decision by the selectors was ratified as he was busy conducting duties as a Returning Officer for the General Elections scheduled for Monday.

Why are Trinis always whining--

Its obvious that Ramdhin could not lead a horse to water..Frankly, why it took so long to axe him as Captain is a mystery..It's time for a change however bowlers as Captains are tenuous at best..

I would not sit down idly by as a WICB Director and allow any victimisation and vindictiveness creep into West Indies cricket

Somebody please tell this fool that "victimization and vindictiveness" has been an integral part of the WI cricket set up- both at the WICB and territortial board level for ages now. Was he sleeping all these years?

Make no mistake about it- both bodies are cancers that is killing cricket- their petty squabble should not throw folks off to take sides- they both stink.

If Aliens run our cricket we would still bawl victimisation--Some of us just do not get it..

Yes and it is exactly why I say they both stink.

Yamfoot 2015-09-05 23:45:11

If this reverting of Ramdin to wicketkeeper batsman leads ot him scoring more runs, then isn't that a good thing?

There should never be a West Indies team.

In Jamaica, I notice that they report "jamaicans so and so" and "trinidadians so and so". I recall Imran Khan advising journalists to avoid doing that.

Come on man, you quoting that Imran character, you will loose credibility.

Of course he is 'disappointed'. Is he expected to be 'ecstatic' about the axing of his fellow countryman and woman? lol lol

Now he will know what it is to be stabbed in d back.
He voted to appoint LLoyd. He was part of the process that left Bravo and Pollard out of d world cup so he is just crying for everyone to see. He is a farce. He is propably rolling with glee for Ramdin getting dropped. As for that decision. Bravo's decision to lead the revolt is all more CLEARER.

XDFIX 2015-09-06 18:21:11

Wasn't Ramdin axed as Trini captain?

rillo 2015-09-06 21:17:01

In reply to XDFIX

Yes he was and this was led by the same crying Bassarath. If all the directors endorsed his firing why is he complaining about the procedure used to fire him.
I say he is just trying to make it a false hunt.
He is the bad guy and he it is that is responsible for our TT boys being foot rags of the WICB.

ASSrath conveniently missed the WICB meeting becos of "commitments due to the general election as a Returning Officer". In other words, he gave himself an alibi so he could shed his crocodile tears.

Why does a TTCB President and WICB Director go to work as a Returning Officer?

Why does a TTCB President and WICB Director go to work as a Returning Officer?

Ummmmm....perhaps it's because some people place high importance to performing a civic duty?

anandgb 2015-09-08 12:14:21

Wait a minute, isn't this the same T&T board that refused ramdin to practice with the T& Team team after he India pull out?t
