Damn!! Nice cheese. Did not know ECB pays so much.

doosra 2015-11-30 17:42:03

In reply to matchstick

yes they do. present contracts are 700k plus match fees (which is not too shabby and especially the number of tests they play)

Of course you are aware that Chris Jordan no longer has a central contract and not all contracts are the same?

Currently he has only his county salary plus match fees.

doublecentury 2015-12-01 09:28:29

Last years contracts were 650,000 pounds

I also post on an English cricket messageboard, and so many of them think Jordan is rubbish, despite his heroics in the SuperOver....

In reply to doublecentury

i am aware. if you read you will see

still does not subtract from the fact that he had a 650k last year

Maybe because Jordan is not one of their own?
He is no giant but he is not rubbish either.

chris made more in the UK in 2014/2015 than he'd make in the wi for life

It would appear that the retainers are considerably more than the county salaries so losing your contract can be a massive pay cut.nevertheless the county salary provides some security ( far more than a regional wicb retainer)

The West Indies contracts are substantially lower so it's not surprising that our professionals have to play overseas( uk,ipl, big bash etc) to try to make a living.

One should also realize that at 24 CJ was released by surrey and is grateful that Sussex picked him up. And they seem to have made a real cricketer of him. Not the best ,but a quick and hostile bowler. A useful number eight batsman. And possibly the best slip fielder in the world.

It would be plain silly not to recognize his development and that he could walk into the West Indies team, not that he would want to.his development would never have happened had he been confined to Barbados.

Top county pros make about 50k all year so it's a 10folds cut but yes it's security and the ground to build on again.

At 24 cj is set
