The irony is that Indian university students in Australia have been bullied, beaten and called racist names, such as bandar. The Indian government and Indian media elite and others immediately issued threats and screamed loud at Australia to intervene-

The Australians did and thankfully Indian students in Australia are living well as there have no reports of violence against them in 29 months.

You have to now ask, why aren't the India media, the government and Indian elites not taking up the fight to help these poor students.

I was told by Indians that the racist treatment of African students in India is not new.

But it is not the norm and most importantly it is not institutionalized. So you cannot compare the problem in India with your example of what you say happens in Trinidad. To do so would be to make trivial a massive Indian problem.

Correct me if I am wrong but there have been no news about Trinidadians killing and stripping women in public by the majority against a minority foreign students because of their skin color?

Black West Indians are allowed to support Black Americans, Black Africans, Blacks in Europe, and so on and so forth.

There is a "Williams Sisters" thread started for each Grand Slam. There is a Lewis Hamilton thread every time he's on the race track. There's a Tiger thread started fairly regularly even though most 15-year old amateur girls would whoop his ass at this point in time.

There is a fair amount of resentment by Afro West Indians against Indo West Indians. The brutality of slavery wasn't just the physical and psychological deprivation of liberty and denial of humanity and equality. Afros lost a fair amount of their African culture, customs, language, and religion. Only the Voodoo religion and culture in Haiti was preserved from its African origins.

Contrast that with Indo West Indians who still maintained their religions, language, and culture from India. The last generations of Indos had many who could still name some of their relatives and ancestors in India. Indos still listen to Indian music, watch Indian movies, speak Hindi and Sanskrit when they worship at Temples, cook Indian food etc.

To make matters worst, Afros widely adopted the religion and customs of their slave masters. Indos did not.
