HEADLINE: TTCB elections postponed

TODAY’s election of a new executive of the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board of Control (TTCB) has been stopped by the High Court following an agreement made between the incumbent regime and the opposing team led by former West Indies cricketers Dinanath Ramnarine and Daren Ganga.

High Court judge Carol Gobin ratified a Consent Order late yesterday that the TT CB would not hold today’s elections, as the Ramnarine-led slate filed a lawsuit for judicial review and an injunction, seeking to stop the elections.

Ramnarine wants to hold the TT CB accountable for a number of alleged breaches. Yesterday, Ramnarine, who is a former West Indies spin bowler; national cricketers Daren Ganga, Samuel Badree, Anil Kamal, Camal Basdeo and St Servius Clint Pamphile, went before Justice Gobin with Senior Counsel Ramesh Lawrence Maharaj, to stop today’s Annual General Meeting at the National Cricket Centre in Couva.

In the lawsuit which Maharaj intends to argue, Ramnarine and his five cricketing colleagues contended that certain articles of the TT CB’s constitution governing the election process, is unconstitutional.

They referred to the executive members of the TT CB who are elected by the board, with six votes to be cast by members who have been nominated by the present executive board and who are vying for re-election.

As I have stated before in this Forum
the best thing is to take ALL REGIONAL
CRICKET BOARDS TO COURT . INCLUDING
THE WICBC .

I would venture to suggest that it is
high time that the INTERNATIONAL CRICKET CABAL , aka the ICC be also taken to Court since it has failed to
insist that its Members exercise good
Governance , regarding the Stewardship of Cricket throughout the
Cricket World .

There is a serious need for change. If you read through the voting structure it clearly show that the administrators had ensured that their powers are retained to select the successor when their term ends. Sick of the politicians

The fact is as I have stated recently in this Forum :

" SELF PRESERVATION IS PREFERRED

THAN GOOD GOVERNANCE ".

This applies to ALL Cricket Boards in
the Region , and that includes the
Worst International Cricket Board in
the Commonwealth ; aka the WICBC .

THE TRUTH IS THAT THE INTERNATIONAL

COUNCIL THE GOVERNING BODY FOR

CRICKET . IS TOTALLY UNINTERESTED

IN ITS MEMBERS EXERCISING GOOD

GOVERNANCE .

Obviously it has given the WICBC the
green light to be a ROGUE INTERNATIONAL CRICKET BOARD . This is
precisely why in my opinion CARICOM
meeting with the ICC is an exercise in utter futility .

My perspective is that the Regional
Governments need to take both the
ICC & the WICBC to Court , and let them explain to the Court their Roles
regarding Cricket in the Region .

It is utterly preposterous that the
Worst International Cricket Board in
the Commonwealth , aka the WICBC , is
allowed by the International Cricket
Cabal , aka the ICC ; to be an Entity
devoid of Accountability ; Transparency ; and lacking the basic
ideals of exercising Good Governance .

The only proper resolution is that
All Cricket Boards in the Region & the WICBC be taken to Court and let them
explain why they are not exercising
Good Governance , and handling the
business of Cricket in a Democratic
manner .

It is truly baffling why they are
still clinging to their archaic Structures , despite a preponderance
of evidence that indicates their
current Structures are failing .
