Why Does Powell Bowl?

Keiron Powell bowls like a batsman. He shouldn't bowl himself for love of country.

In other words, he's a "half" spinner.

Very good question, he looks like a batting practice bowler, but when someone is captain he could justify bowling himself.

He is an ordinary bowler and captain. However those lollipops for some strange reason has gotten him 5 wickets thus far so batsmen get complacent when they see those lollipops. Still don't understand why he does not utilize Chesney Hughes left arm orthodox bowling.

In reply to voiceofreason Because Chesney is recovering from an injury.

He bowled him yesterday evening but I guess he was out of options. BTW how do you rate Powell's captaincy?

In reply to voiceofreason Jimbo was unwell yesterday from before he got to the stadium. The fielding let LI down badly in yesterday's session. They dropped Campbell in the first few overs and they dropped Brandon King on 50 something (Chesney did, if i recall correctly).

I also know there was a lot of controversy over the umpiring in the Windwards / Leewards match last week (a certain Trinidadian umpire whose name i wont mention) that resulted in a lot of after-match reports. Let's just say Trinidad umpires working for their own and i know some journos are penning articles on the issue as we speak. Consequently, there are factors (some out of his control) that are impacting the captaincy, least of all, the lack of decent bowling options for Leewards and the unacceptable fielding.
