died of pancreatic cancer. He was a Melbourne player. A good source told me but I haven't seen it anywhere.

I heard that Jamaican cricketer Colin Fletcher
In reply to Chrissy
I remember his fighting knock against the Winward Island at Sabina when they made over 400 runs in the first innings. Jamaica just failed to pass it but he made 99.
In reply to Chrissy
I remember Fletcher well from the Melbourne days.
He was also a competent wicketkeeper.
In reply to Drapsey If true may he RIP.
Was a member at Melbourne from 72-86. Never saw him keep wicket. Wicketkeepers during that period were Marzouca,Bembridge,Mordecai and a youngster who was a youth player.
In reply to alfa1975
can't remember Marzouca but the other two were serious talents!
That's sad news. I remember him from his Melbourne days.
In reply to Chrissy Confirmed -just got a message from a fellow poster, who had communication from Melbourne Cricket Club that he,(Colin Fletcher ) died on Oct 8, 2016 and was buried in Addis Ababa,Ethiopia..
Belated condolences to family and friends.
Probably played for Melbourne longer than most.
In reply to alfa1975Yes "Micey" Fletcher had moved to live in Ethiopia after retiring from Bank of Jamaica. He had a serious back issue where he did surgery, but eventually succumbed to those complications I was reliably informed by my BOJ colleagues. RIP, my former inter-Bank cricket opening partner.

Yes Micey passed. May he rest in peace. He was a friend and competitor. That youth player who kept wicket at Melbourne was probably Earle Melbourne or could be Mark Neita who also kept sometimes. Micey had good stories to tell.

JamMack and i played inter-bank for Scotia back in the day when Micey played for BOJ. Somehow i thought this was already posted because he died in October.
Fletcher was very prolific at the senior cup level but couldn't cut it at the regional level.

Happy New Year Wally. Thanks for reminding me of that. I even shed the gloves a couple times and bowled my leg breaks and Googlies in Even took wickets in that Business House league. I forgot those times until you mentioned those memories. Memories of Micey were of Senior Cup times and liming after cricket. As an older guy he looked out for us younger ones who showed potential. He was full of good cricket advice. We talked about the game. He was a sharp fielder who could catch!
In reply to Wally-1I played inter-bank as keeper/batsman back in the days. We had a good side at times with Micey, Cashew Brown, Errol Wilson, Franz Cunningham, Ray Ferguson, Mikey Howell etc. to name a few. Royal Bank usually have a good side as well.
In reply to amedatman What period(s) did you and Wally play Inter-Bank? When I played BOJ did not have a team , and BOJ guys used to play with and as JDB.
In reply to JamMack Young wicketkeeper came from country, he may have played for Vere.
In reply to alfa1975
