Long gone are the days when WI like to play the first test match at the fast Sabina Park pitch to guarantee an opening win with the fast bowlers. Now due to our lack of fast bowlers and poor bowling attack, plus preparation of the pitch that now only helps slower bowlers, that advantage has been lost.

is that so, when as the last time Sabina was fast.

Before they relaid the pitch in 1998. It used to have a glass like shine on it. Those were the days.
Good news for Guyana and T&T. More people will attend those 5 matches than all the days of the 3 tests combined.
The style now is go out, watch men beat ball, drink up, dance up pon some tassa, get a result before going home ... all in one day

Oh boy. These will be drab affairs. May set ODI cricket back 40 years. Doesn't the WICB get the memo that ODI cricket is meant to be batsman-friendly with free-flowing shots and lots of boundaries? I'll be surprised if either team gets past 220.

Maybe they think Guyana is Little Pakistan.

you better watch out for choke and robbers

only if the game is played at Albion!

New pitches have been relaid at Providence last year.
I hope they use the new pitches and they are conducive to batting.
Having said that...even tho in the early stages low scoring matches may be boring....the ending is usually exciting

Head Curator at the Guyana National Stadium Wazim Habib assured that everything will be ready for Fridays Four-day match between Guyana and Jamaica which starts the 2016/2017 Professional Cricket League (PCL) First-Class season.
Four of the six pitches on the square were dug-up in mid August and the old soil was replaced with soil from Enterprise with higher clay content and the foundation changed.
However, these pitches will not be ready for use until the second half of the season next year.

I don't mind those 220 score games. I see enough boundaries flowing in the Big Bash and IPL.
In reply to Narper
Thanks.

Really? I suppose you can't get enough of seeing expansive cover drives off the toe end of bats barely getting off the square as well?
In reply to Priapus
I think most people want to see a contest. You know, between ball and bat?
In reply to SnoopDog
The pus jus want to see 6's and 4's .....
In reply to Kay
The IPL this year has outsourced the bowling to bowling machines at each end. 11 batsmen against two bowling machines to be operated by the captain of the opposing team. Doesn't get more exciting than that.
In reply to googley
That's a real fear, sadly
In reply to Narper
New pitches playing the same way... well at least that's what d Jaguars players saying..
In reply to SnoopDog
Yeah. That's what test cricket is for. ODI was never meant to fill that role. It was always meant to be batsman-centric and for the entertainment of the fans. Surely, both you and Kay knows that......or not.
In reply to Kay
I bet you can't wait to see the batsmen trying to play shots off deliveries near their shins and ankles.
