To the most amazing tennis I have seen in a long time. Serve and Volley of the highest order.

Murray gone - OUT
Fuzzy?
If not Djokovic then Murray. If not Murray then Djokovic.
Easy big grin big grin

I don't understand why the British and American media focus mainly on Murray annd Djokovic, and ignore Wawrinka, who, lest we forget, won the US Open. I picked Wawrinka to win the Australian Open at the start of the tournament, and I'm still sticking with him....
Almost unnoticed, Wawrinka won his fourth round match in three tiebreakers...this Swiss guy is probably the fittest man on tour. He can run, and run, and run.

I am impressed by your archival/retrieval skills.
Iam with Stan now

If Andy Murray is great, then he is easily the most ordinary great I've seen.

I've never heard much talk about Wawrinka's fitness levels. Certainly not in terms of him being one of the fittest guys on tour.
Bum picking Nadal has a real cupcake schedule. He was lucky the teenager cramped up in the 5th set a few nights ago. That teenager is expected to be a grand slam champion in the future. He is also the younger brother of the chap who defeated Murray.
What a reaction from Federer at the end of the match. That was a reaction I'd expect after winning a Grand Slam.
Funny how players not in the top 5, on their day can play like world beaters. Zverev was playing tennis at a #1 level. His movement was second to none...man was moving better than Andy and that is a big deal. His touch at net and his power was quite astonishing. Makes you wonder why he hasn't been contending for Grand Slam titles.

Good win for di Fed
In reply to Chrissy
Indeed. He's playing remarkably well considering his age and the six month layoff. However, even with Djoker and Murray out, I still think he'll need some help to win this slam.
For all to know, I am picking Nadal to win this Slam.
In reply to Devin
So, the Fed wasn't lucky against Nikoshori who was having physical problems???
In reply to StumpCam
No, because the physical problems clearly didn't affect Nishikori's movement. Cramping during your service game when you've just broken back renders you useless.
In reply to Oilah
At that level, they can all play. They can all move.
What separates the top players from those outside the top 20 is consistency.
And that consistency has a LOT to do with the mental aspect of the game and their fitness levels.
Misha played at a top 5 level yesterday. Don't be surprised if he gets bounced in the next match. He doesn't have that level of consistency
BTW, Kerber got TROUNCED by Vanderweghe this morning.
Vanderweghe is your typical "ugly American" (I don't like her attitude) but she played an effective power game today
In reply to imusic
How would you describe Serena's attitude at a similar stage in her career?
In reply to imusic
They were pushing Vandeweghe back when talking about atheletic bloodlines blah blah like they used to do for Capriati. It went to her head a long time ago that she would be a great one.

It was indeed good to see serve and volley tennis again...I watched a replay last night, and Misha Zverev's S&V game was a joy to watch!
I wonder if he can reproduce that game against Federer next....

"I've never heard much talk about Wawrinka's fitness levels. Certainly not in terms of him being one of the fittest guys on tour."
Maybe that's because you don't watch many Wawrinka matches....
This morning, on Eurosport, Pat Cash said just that - that Wawrinka just goes on and on, and that he's one of the fittest guys on tour.
I see he beat Tsonga in straight sets...a pity. I was cheering for Tsonga, but the Swiss has too many weapons for the Frenchman.
