Will Bonner be inspired by his Captain Kieran Powell tomorrow?

voiceofreason 2017-02-05 20:47:50

...4 consecutive failures with the bat but after seeing his captain hit 3 centuries and a half ton in the same period will he be inspired to perform tomorrow against the U-19's?

I think he will come good...We cannot afford for him to backslide to his pre- REVO 20 something days...

Why pick on Bonner, allyuh carrying the biggest county dead weight in regional history, and not one thread of that batting imposture

Bonner has played every game. The alleged Impostor you speak of was dropped and is now returning for his second game. I will cut him some slack.

voiceofreason 2017-02-06 09:01:46

At the rate the U-19S going Bonner may not have to bat today.

I guess you have already forgotten that Bonner was the first inspirational captain who lead from the front to transform the once horrible hurricane into now a competitive team. That will always be his legacy in the history of the hurricane and nothing can change that reality!

How many games did he captain and what were the results? I await your findings. In the meantime Cappo Powell since he took over the reins: 5 soon to be 6 wins, 2 losses, 2 draws. cool

I think Bonner will be fine. He just needs to settle down. He trying too hard to take on the relatively short boundaries.

Welcome Bro. I am very concerned about his regression. The problem is we do not have other batsmen to fill his crucial # 3 slot. That is what happens when LICA fails to have tournaments but that is another story. He needs to step up.

Is Kieran taking a rest today? Is he trying to give the others some batting time?

aliaskid13 2017-02-06 13:09:49

Glad to be here, comrade. Yes, his regression is cause for concern but he's a talented lad and he'll come good.

They really do need to have more inter-island tournaments. It seems like all they've been doing lately is rotating the same players.

I don't know if the skipper is out of the xi or not because i don't have any link to the game or even the lineup. But taking a rest or batting down the order may not be a bad idea in this situation since the other batsmen, particularly the middle order need to show some responsibility instead of always relying on his batting at the top.

JamMack 2017-02-06 13:12:22

Bonner trying his best to come back home to fill the void King left behind.

I am waiting to see the scorecard to see if he played but either way it was a good idea to send these guys early to get some form. Our middle order has struggled and we need to get these guys some match form for the bigger games.

Chesney Hughes has been a major disappointment. Not sure if he was dropped again, but I expected more from him.

Yeah I expected a lot more from Hughes. At one point he looked to be one of the better prospects in the team. But his batting hasn't really taken off. He's another one that always seems to be trying too hard to muscle the ball to the boundary. It's like if these guys don't believe in steady accumulation. on this ground in particular, all you have to do is look to score in ones and twos. If the ball goes far enough for you to get more than two for it, it will almost certainly go all the way for four because the boundaries are relatively short.

Hughes timing is an issue cause as you say he is trying too hard to muscle the ball on these slower surfaces.

I like the looks of Campbell as a bowler and I believe we could use him in the 4 day format along side Zhari Tonge and Cornwall.

aliaskid13 2017-02-06 18:05:00

In reply to voiceofreason

Yes Campbell was a great find. But saying that raises the question of Orlando Peters... Cause right now he look like he's playing in this team as a batsman.

voiceofreason 2017-02-06 19:14:00

In reply to aliaskid13

I am not sure what is his role in the team as he is hardly used as a bowler and he is batting too low to be considered a batsman. That is a position they need to look at seriously but the fact that we have not had a LICA tournament in 3 years we keep recycling the same old mediocre players. I hope that changes this year.

There was a 50 over tourney (small, yes) but Tonito scored the most runs. He should of been in there instead of Peters
