Federer not retiring until 2019/2020?
In reply to Devin
He needs to retire.

He'll make money even when he's losing
The Tom Brady approach? Why not. Although there's a marked difference in that R-Fed is clearly past his prime as a player while Brady still looks at the top of his game.
That said, he just won a Slam, he certainly feels like he can get a few more. Just has to be really selective about the number of tourneys he takes part in.

I'm too sentimental to be objective when it comes to Federer. I want him to push for 20 Grand Slams, it's highly unlikely, but who knows.
In the grand scheme of things, I'd want him to retire at the top or as close to #1 as possible.

I don't think he's thought about money in a long long time. That guy just loves the sport of tennis and has a desire to win that hasn't been compromised.
You're right, he'll continue to make millions long after he's retired.
He'll always play a big role in Tennis. Whether he chooses to open up a few academies, become a commentator, or work for the ATP in some capacity.
He is easily the greatest ambassador the sport has produced.

If by "past his prime" you mean he cannot get any better than he is right now, then I agree.
But how many others are even close to his state of primeness right now?
Federer will remain in the top 5 for quite a long time.

Even at his diminished level, Feds is still a top player. Not that it is any of my business, but if the man wants to play, I say play on. Still upset that he beat Rafa in the Oz final tho!
BTW -- I remember just before Feds won his first Grand Slam, in the era of the Hewitts et al., McEnroe mentioned that there are hackers and hitters out there, but Feds is an artist.
Truer words have never been spoken. Feds is still an artist. Play on.
