Why Holder and Braithwiate playing ahead Rovman?

Slipfeeler 2017-03-03 16:36:47

Selector just missed a wonderful opportunity for Roveman Powell and Mohammed to take WI home to victory. So happy for JoMo, they grudgingly put you on their team but you showed them up today and the best part is that they can't drop you next ODI. Keep them clueless!

We are losing the game at the toss

Maybe they thought one Powell is enough, sometimes you have to wonder the selectors thoughts,I at least thought that R.Powell was a must. You are right,I feel he and Mo would have done the job, should play next game and both Braffits should be dropped.

cool

Holder deserves a place but both Brathwaites have to go
And Nurse too.

Walton,Powell and Cornwall come in

Slipfeeler 2017-03-03 16:49:04

In reply to silver

We are losing the game because both Holder and Braithwaite as "invested players" were not up to the task today with both bat and ball

In cricket the captain must play

Brathwaite (assuming it is Carlos and not Kraigg) is playing because of potentially batting against Stokes in the death - otherwise his selection is baffling

Slipfeeler 2017-03-03 17:12:14

In reply to Acid

There must be changes for next ODI match or same result

So you think there is help in the pitch for the seamers you play two spinners

Cornfused 2017-03-03 17:25:47

Both went wicket less and Rodvan bowls faster than them both . Contributed very little with the bat . We used to have a lower order punch in the last 20 , Sammy , Pollard , Bravo, Russel etc . Today the men with the long handle did didly squat.

timeless99 2017-03-03 17:35:01

Carlos needs to show up or get out we need to stop picking players on potential and pick the on performance that's been one of the greatest killers in wI cricket. Rovman should be in the 11

Slipfeeler 2017-03-03 17:38:56

In reply to timeless99

Not much wagging of WI tail, so we need consistent middle order performers.

doublecentury 2017-03-03 17:39:38

Bishoo ain't t good enough....but nor is the team.

Bravo Simmons,Bravo ,Gayle,Ramdin,Russell,Narine,Pollard .Samuels

BOG IDIOT

archangel 2017-03-03 17:41:24

I am not advocating for Rovman though I was disappointed that he did not get in.

But I see that Carlos' f our sixes still counting. For how long though?

Yadi 2017-03-03 18:28:56

Mohammed might end up get Bravo spot.

Trini fih Trini.

Slipfeeler 2017-03-03 18:30:09

In reply to archangel

I am wondering about that too! He needs more sixes to keep his place on the team!

JamMack 2017-03-03 19:45:57

The Browne Holder tag team must be made obsolete.

tc1 2017-03-03 20:05:32

In reply to Cornfused

Sammy , Pollard , Bravo, Russel etc . Today the men with the long handle did didly squat.

When?

seaegg99 2017-03-04 07:25:57

All killing Holder yet he had the most consistent lower order batsman and was the most consistent bowler in the recent tournament. Still looking at the team, who else can you give the captaincy too?

timeless99 2017-03-04 07:36:33

Holder is not an opening bowler look at yesterday the pitch was offering assistance but holder did not have the pace to extract it and he is not a number 7 in modern day cricket and he does not have th skills to captain he is reactive when he should be pro active and it's time we stop applauding losing performance international cricket is big man cricket and to be there you should be up to it time to stop the talks about young team and in experience and accept those guys are not good enough

Slipfeeler 2017-03-04 08:55:39

In reply to seaegg99

No player should be selected just cuz they are captain! Haven't we learnt anything from Sammy? The best players should always be on the field for WI and yesterday Holder and Braithwaite were missing!

TanteMerle 2017-03-04 09:00:54

In reply to Slipfeeler

You lessen your credibility by saying Holder

Holder is cappo and a deserving ODI player.

Carlos spot is not only questionable
but highly suspect.

Just like Lloyd picking Chandrika.
Just like Viv picking Arthurton ahead of Lara
Lara picking Dillon

I can go on and on.

Insularatee is rampant and killing us.

Mustwin 2017-03-04 09:30:26

In reply to SlipfeelerRoveman Powell will definitely be in tomorrow. Carlos should not be in the 13.

seaegg99 2017-03-04 09:36:55

In reply to Slipfeeler

So you are saying Holder does not deserve his place in the team.

timeless99 2017-03-04 09:48:55

With all players in the Wi available Holder does not deserve to be in the 11 with what is available at the moment yes he should be in the 11 as 1st change bowler.

pom 2017-03-04 11:06:28

Carlos B is a duplicate of sammy except sammy is a more explosive batter.I do not understand all this support for his inclusion but rovman should have played drop one of the spinners for aljo as well.

What! You are actually comparing Holder to Russell? A player who by all accounts is the winnest player in the world for the past 2 years, with about 6 continuous tournament wins and he actually had a significant impact of helping his various teams to win. Is it a full moon today?

Russell is not ahead in fielding, Holder has 16 catches to Russell 11 if you want to break it down to the nearest form of the game.

Are you aware that Rovman is known to most local cricket fans in bim, from him playing in the BCA competition.
After the finals, Miller had to explain to the panel on a local show, why he bowled Rovman so late, and batted him so low.
We know his talent, long before the regional tournament.
Here is a little of what he has down playing in Barbados;
Sagicor Life UWI beat Nicholls Baking Combermere by 110 runs.

UWI 310-7 (50 overs) (Rovman Powell 119 - 118 balls, 6 fours, 5 sixes; Ryan Hinds 55, Floyd Reifer 53 not out, Kyle Corbin 31, Shaquille Williams 10; Matthew Jones 3-6cool.

Combermere 200 all out (35.2 overs) (Matthew Jones 47, Shamar Springer 44, Najee Holder 23, Shian Brathwaite 19, Shane Proverbs 18, Leniko Boucher 15, Shakkae Marshall 15 not out; Linton Buchanan 3-43, Shaquille Williams 2-27, Jermaine Levy 2-42).

Sagicor Life UWI beat ESA Field Pickwick by 95 runs in the second semi-final of BCA Sagicor General Twenty20 Championship at 3Ws Oval tonight.

Needing 238 to win, Pickwick were bowled out for 142 in 16.1 overs.

Shai Hope topscored with 30 off 19 balls including four fours and one six.

Left-arm spinner Ryan Hinds took three for 15 off 3.1 overs.

Out: Shai Hope (30), Jamal Phillips (0), Kyle Hope (29), Craig St. Hill (0), Yannick Ottley (4), Rohan Ryan (17), Adeko Collymore (2), Che Layne (6), Zahir Motara (24), Raymond Bynoe (9).

Jerome Stuart was not out on eight.

Bowling: Hinds 3-0-15-3, Hodge 4-0-34-2, Henry 3-0-47-0, Buchanan 4-0-28-2, Ramsaran 2-0-18-0.

UWI scored 237 for four off 20 overs after winning the toss.

Rovman Powell topscored with a whirlwind 120 not out off 53 balls including 12 sixes and three fours.
Out: Chadwick Walton (19), Justin Bramble (11), Kyle Corbin (53), Akeem Dewar (26).

Beyond reproach you meant? I refuse to believe a Bajan, the most highly educated black people who ever lived, would make such a mistake.

Insular? You would be the same, no? The mere fact you think Holder and Russell are ODI equals tells me that you are. The fact that you want to use Russell's LONE Test match as a way of judging him just compounds matters!

Please explain how their stats are a dead heat!!!

I don't know if you listened to Nikita's interview, but he think differently about Powell and Reynard Leveridge
We as fans think they are ready, he don't think they are.
He wanted Benn to be in this present squad, so players are not as insular as we are

Leverage shouldn't even be in the discussion, but it is clear Rovman deserves to be in the WI squad. He certainly deserves to be picked for Jamaica before Miller's rass!

Miller is covering his rass for the way he handled Rovman.

The correct idiom is beyond/above reproach.

My take is, he from the old school
He will not promote any player after one year, he did not think Powell had the experience to bowl in the final, thats why he was only brought on when the hood reach the fan.
After being called out, he made too many inexcusable blunders, young Campbell must be pissed, being made to bat so low in the order.

Jah, you like to give, but you can take it, it easy to get you riled up, I notice that both of these players had 50 games and they Avg was similar, but the mob was riled up and had to elevate Russ while making remarks about Jason.
only a few like Jen give postings about the quality/ improvement of both young men.

I am aware that many yardies play in the BCA like Rovman, Chadwick,Bonner, Burton, and the other fast bowler as well as many others, which is a plus for both regions
