The Secretary must be on vacation.

Why are you so stoopid?
"40+ every other innings" and man still can't average 30...dat is your standard.
Do you want me to prove it too.
Forget it...you would not understand.
In reply to Courtesy
I can guarantee u that while there is a probability that your Secretarial assessment is factual... if a player is good enough to put up 40+ every other inning he will be good enough to average more than 40.
But those sorts of practicality are beyond secretary level of assessment.
Great to see you SHY away from a serious discussion on the initial thread but you are wilLing to SNEAK AROUND and bump your gum elsewhere. In true Secretary form!

Mate, you are still prolonging this simplistic approach to higher standards (40+ runs every other innings). You are even dumber than I thought possible.
You attached one useless parameter to your simplistic criterion and this says it all.
You cannot see there is something drastically wrong with that statement?...and that is a batsman can meet your higher standard criterion easily without reaching an average 30.
Anyway, get off my spooning thread...you bloody idiot.

From the very first time I saw him played spin, I said he had no clue. Nothing has changed since!

I must admit that I haven't seen enough of him.
You mean de selectors did not see dat. Captain Miller saw it.

You know, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.
For instance our batsmen overachieves at the regional level year after year, yet they cannot carried that over to the international level.
You want to know why, our bowlers suck! They cannot exploit a batsman weakness with any sort of skill, subsequently, these batsmen feel that they have arrive only to be found wanting when they step up to the next level.
Our best batsman, Kraig has a lot of flaws yet he continues to dominate the regional tournament.
Conversley, our bowlers struggle when they come up against international batsmen. Just looked at Captain Carlos bowling at a rank tailender Wahab Riaz. That is where we lost the match or more accurately, where Carlos won it for the Pakistanis!
Anyway, I digress!

In short, we are attempting to build a strong West Indies cricket culture on an extremely weak foundation.

i do not judge cricketers by their cowlashing ability
let them play properly first ...this is a guy who's barely played FC cricket
Rovman is a very good fielder, very good death bowler (at regional level) and a very hard hitter of the ball.
I do not understand why he is selected as a batsman. He has to bowl, or either sit on the sidelines. It is as if the management team is unaware of his death bowling abilities..
He is also batting too early. His defensive technique is below Holder and Brathwaite and more on par with Narine. He needs to come in with 5 overs to go ideally, and occasionally when the opportunity presents itself, pinch hit. Yesterday, he needed to have been protected from the spinner (like how Miller did) and been there at the end against the pacers.
Can he not make the Jamaica 4 day team? He needs that kind of development if he is going to realize hs full potential.

Man, Rovman Powell's facial expression when he heard the death rattle was priceless.

In reply to Baje
Please check Rovman's stats as a bowler..he's an option, but surely not one who HAS to bowl.
He's also very new to cricket at this level.
He does look good against seam bowling though, i think he's one to invest in, not some of the others who are already close to 30. I aint never heard such shite..investing in a 30 year old
In reply to DIEHARD
I have seen him bowling at the death and giving away very few runs. I am not talking about overall average, total number of wickets he has taken. Many matches are lost when the death bowlers give up 20+ in one over. I think Rovman can be a specialty death bowler.
