could is a very interesting word
Chase in for Nurse. Far better batsman and imo a better bowler although neither is a world beater.
Maybe Ambris but I en know fuh who
In reply to TheTrail
What about Marlon Samuels? Has he retired?
In reply to TheTrail
Weh de raas Nurse a go?
A nuh Test side u seh??
And J-Mo.
Horses for courses man..reward the four day performers who have shown they the stomach for days of cricket nuh man.
Batting with a crowded slip cordon with the bowler testing u patience..
Which btw..we probably don't see enough regionally..which is why we cant produce any good top order bats..they have no pratcise at leaving alone under match conditions smh

HOW THE HELL THE LEADING RUN SCORER ( KYLE HOPE) CANNOT MAKE MOST OF THESE TEAMS.. CRAZY.. SUNIL AMBRIS HAVE TO BE IN THE SQUAD ALSO
Why are some so quick to discard Dowrich? The man has a test avg of 34 after 8 tests which is good for a keeper and great for any West Indian bat of modern vintage. Haven't heard anyone say he was bad behind the stumps and in his last test he scored 47 and 60 not out bringing home the victory. I en dropping this test player because he is out of form in dung heap.

I for one don't think the young team need two wicketkeepers, that spot can be handle by another all-rounder.
The BCA showed the world that Shai can do the job, by allowing Shai to keep during the Super 50, and batting Dowrich low in the order.
In reply to openning
You need to stop thinking of them as wicket keepers but rather as batsman who just happens to keep.
If they are among the best batsmen on the team then they make the 11, doesn't matter if 3 or 4 of them can keep.
The Lankan team of past used to have about 3 or 4 keepers on it
In reply to Andy99
agreed

Can you list their regional yearly averages to show us, the consistency of these batsman.
This year Ambris was outstanding, last year it was Hamilton, another time it was Dowrich, one day it will be Walton.
I am not into one hit wonders, or picking players and dropping them per season.
Only a year or two ago Leon Johnson was the talk of the town, now you have kicked him to the curve.
BTW, Vishal Singh 161 for the A team in Asai, tells me more about him, than Ambris or Hope doubles against the Leewards and Guyana.

Shai Hope and Shane Dowrich have been 2 best performing regional batsmen over the last 2-3 years. That is a fact.
The Caribbean has not produce a world class batsman since sarwan. The quality of the pitches has a lot to do with that also cz I don't see What good a pitch that spins from the first session of day 1 would have on cricket in the Caribbean In saying that the batsman has lack application and there's still slot of talent around its just that talent alone would not make you a world class batsman and shot selection cont to plague the region
In reply to Andy99
Base on their stats, Shai is a batting wicketkeeper, Shane is a wicketkeeper that can bat.
Do you need them both in the young team?
In reply to openning
Kraigg Brathwaite
Jason Mohammed
Roston Chase
Shane Dowrich
Shai Hope
Kieran Powell
Vishaul Singh
Base on the stats only Paint from ur squad has a better FC average than Hope.
Based on the Stats only Paint, Hope and Chase has a better FC average than Shane Dowrich.
You know what that means?
Shane the wicketkeeper that can bat has been a more successful batsman than Mohammed, Powell and Singh (and Blackwood who you didn't include) who are all specialist batsmen.
In reply to Andy99
I get so tired with fans not understanding the difference between an opening position, or batting slot.
Dowrich bats at #6 for Barbados and the West Indies, I would want to compare him to the other wicketkeepers, batting performances.
With the pride giving the gloves to Hope in the Regional Super 50, and having an outstanding 4-day tournament, all I am asking, do the team need two keepers?
Can Cornwall take that #6 slot?
BTW, if you had been following Walton and Dowrich you would have seen, they failed at bat, being used solely as batsman.
Walton was out of dept against Pakistan in the ODI, and Shane was just as bad in the regional Super 50.
Dowrich should keep his place cz he played a good hand in the last victory in the uae I think he deserve a chance.
Boy these Bimsters have been fighting Shane from day 1. When he was out batting everybody they say he is a keeper, now he struggling in the regional they say we don't need a specialist keeper. They just don't like this facking man.

Do you not understand English?
In reply to Andy99
I agree, there is room for Shai and Dowrich. Dow rich has done well so far in his few stints. Doesn't deserve to be drop. His batting is solid and reliable so far.
In reply to jen
Shai, Mohammed and Dowrich are the best middle order bats. A focussed Bravo would be a nice group to build on. Wish is for Blackwoood to start putting more value on his batting. Dowrich is being underserved in Barbados lineup. This a young player who have performed on the big stage. He is one of the few fearless strokmakers we have.
In reply to Andy99
Not based on his grammar
In reply to TheTrail
IMO:
1. Gabriel is recovering from an injury and should not be risked in a test match
2. The Team in the LAST TEST - Played vs Pakistan in Sharjah, which we won was
KB
Johnson
Lil Bravo
Samuels
Blackwood
Chase
Dowrich (Wk)
Holder
Bishoo
Gabriel
Joseph
3. With Gabriel injured, my preference would be for Rakheem Cornwall to play instead.
4. Further, IMO Johnson, Lil Bravo & Samuels won't be there and probably will be replaced with Lewis, Shai Hope and J Mo
5. Rest of the team stays same:
KB
Lewis
Shai Hope
J Mo
Blackwood
Chase
Dowrich (wk)
Holder
Cornwall
Bishoo
Joseph
The reality though is that once Gabriel is injured and Roach does well in the Prez Eleven match....Roach will be back bringing the best stats for a fast bowler in the region at test level.
In reply to thefacts
Given that....
1) We won the last Test;
2) That Lil Bravo and Samuels probably won't play;
3) And that the WI selectors don't like to change a losing team, much less a winning one;
Could Leon Johnson be retained?
On that basis, I don't expect many changes....
1) Kraigg Brathwaite
2) Kieran Powell/Kyle Hope
3) Leon Johnson/Kyle Hope
4) Shai Hope
5) Jermaine Blackwood
6) Roston Chase
7) Shane Dowrich
Jason Holder
9) Dev Bishoo
10) Alzarri Joseph
11) Shannon Gabriel/Kemar Roach
Sunil Ambris to carry drinks....
Am laughing to see you guys fighting over which players best to pick from the worse of the wi players
In reply to cricketfreak
you still have to pick a team , good or bad.
In reply to thefacts
Based on the WI bowling stats vs Pak....Bishoo is by far our best bowler ave 31.07.
Taylor is the best of our pacers by far also...but he is not in the shake up.
I would pick a performing bowler from this Prez Eleven line up because there isn't much seperation of them.
But it makes sense to give Cornwall finally his try...Nurse has proven that you can be effective against them.
Actually based on the stats Bishoo bowling in tandem with Nurse would be a logical pick!
In reply to analyst-kid
What's Nurse' stats against Pakistan in Tests?
In reply to analyst-kid
Yeah, i think its only a matter of time before he will be.
Also, IMO -> Bishoo & Nurse are a decent bowling pair.
Bishoo is an attacking leg spinner, while Nurse can keep one end tight.
The reason I picked Cornwall, is because there is so much hype surrounding him, that its better the man gets his chance on the international level and showcases what has he got.
