The Cornwall and Miller saga

solidrock 2017-04-22 10:51:06

"Jimbo" Cornwall and "Russian" Miller are without doubt the two most successful FC cricketers in the WI who are being shown "cricket wickedness" by our selectors.

I know there are a number of reasons that go into selecting a player to don a WI cap (like ability, role to be played in the team, personality effect on the rest of the team, success in every situation he has been offered, etc). So...do not tell me about "figures are not enough"... I understand!!!

But, any reason that blinds our selectors to Cornwall and Miller is total rubbish when matched against excellent ability, figures and consistency by these two players over time. "They genuinely deserve the chance to succeed or fail at the test level of cricket."

Sometimes as a fan we simply advocate for a cricketer that we like, but truly does not have the results to deserve automatic selection. I understand that!

But, Cornwall and Miller are in the "top draw" of West Indian cricketers at this time in our history. No one on the present WI team has more ability than any of these two. This is a very strong statement that happens to be true.

I urge the selectors to correct now the "wickedness" that is being shown to Cornwall and Miller!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! evil evil evil evil

Why are you calling the guy Jimbo? Is his name James or Jameston etc. Which firstly where the nickname Jim is used and secondly is applied affably if the person accepts it. Pretty soon you guys will start calling hom Bubba without knowing the insulting nature of its origin.

He aint a fat Jim/James anyway which is where Jimbo comes in. Jumbo is insulting implying a large jet that has huge intake (passengers). We need to find a more affable term lime we did for Big Bird Garner

There petnames/family shortened, like Viv, Hopps, Duje, nicknames that are affable like Big Bird, Tiger, white lightenimg not that I ever saw a black streak of it, yagga, etc. Then there those meant to insult people due to weight, looks, walk, etc jumbo when used to describe people is not meant to be kind or nice. Jumbo drinks and fries are view as for greedy people/gluttons really and so is the people relation. Bubba is now associatedvwith the big fat black prisoner type.
