Rahkeem Cornwall..Overweight but can we wait?

Raggs 2017-04-27 06:26:25

pick him and done..i suppose test cricket is played @ a slow enuff pace to accommodate him in our line-up.
BTW...Antiguans players are a proud fighting pack.I'm a big fan of those selected from that region.

By picking Cornwall WI would solidify their unchallengeable status as the court jesters of international cricket

So you select Cornwall, what message w.r.t fitness and discipline would you be sending to others.

IMO, if Cornwall wants to play on any WI team he should, with his own funds, hire a personal trainer and a dietitian to get himself into shape. If he chooses not to do so, I am sure most NFL teams are looking for Offensive Linemen.

Even if he takes 5 wickets and make a ton?

On the contrary, every player interview and cricket analysis I have read seems to suggest that Test cricket is physically the most challenging and gruelling of all formats.

Bloke would be unable to persevere in Tests....extra 40 lbs is a lot of weight to carry! wink

Dukes 2017-04-29 11:58:38

Is this the same guy who bowled 26 consecutive overs recently?

BeatDball 2017-04-29 12:11:57

In reply to Dukes One time thing...would he be able to sustain it?!

Why does being big boned mean unfit? Cornwall is very fit. He bats. He fields and sometimes he bowls more than those picked to bowl. And this is in 4 day games. As I have said many times all the newbies here should google Colin Milburn. He was much bigger than Cornwall and he opened successfully for Warwickshire and England.

Raggs 2017-04-29 14:42:30

I say play Mr Big Man.Some Antigua Fire needs to be hired.

R U serious?????

How many times do you think a cricketer needs to bowl 26 consecutive overs before you think he is fit???

yes sah...let him lose the weight while he is the squad.if selected then that's his incisive. play hard and shed the lard.

Oilah 2017-04-29 15:35:58

If you would pick Cornwall on his performance if he was slim then pick him. Don't let prejudice get in the way of merit. Cornwall can bat and he is always taking wickets...pick him.

You got that right. Dem bias vs big people and you just have to look at the insults added in their comments. Must be in their up- bringing. I guess the 6'7 plus 270lbs Tight Ends in the NFL should also count as too big to be considered fit.

So he is a pig now!! Or I guess you dont know where lard comes from.

And that is true for ALL the youngsters..weight challenged or not.

In my opinion Cornwall is ready for the big league.

he should be given that break...he has earned it.

Why the discrimination? If he breaks down....what's new?....so called healthy and fit players break down too.

bobby 2017-04-29 18:18:32

How are the slim and fit players doing? Are they setting the cricket world alight?
