Former President Barack Obama has been named the 2017 "Profile in Courage" award honoree by the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation.

"Our country owes a debt of gratitude to President Obama, not just for the many important policy achievements made during his tenure but also for the example of leadership he provided all of us, which we may draw upon in the years to come," Jack Schlossberg, the son of JFK's daughter, Caroline Kennedy, said in a statement.

Oh dear! Trump and the Right-wing are now going to attack the JFK-LF.

From the time Repugnants held that secret meeting to plan how they were going to stymie Obama in his legislative efforts and, Mitch McConnell openly said hiis number one goal was to make Obama a one-term president, their plan was all part of a determined effort to erase the thought that a black man even became president of the USA.

The delegitimization was set into motion by claiming he was a Muslim and, even worse, not American - certainly, not mainland American, but a strange, exotic creature from some island in the Pacific, onto whom they could brand him with their most racist attitudes, consistent with the history of America towards blacks.

That he, himself wrote a book, or two, could even not be fathomed; it had to have been authored by a white man, even a socialist one.

That he could have even be considered, smart or intelligent, as a black person, such thoughts had to be erased in the minds of their Deplorables and "poorly educated" and deemed unthinkable. One-drop rule reinforced.

He could never have achieved any recognizable higher academic standing on his own, he had to be sullied as a likely affirmative action baby, given a leg up at the expense of some more deserving white.

Claims that he was not "really" American, but a Muslim appearing out of nowhere, like a Manchurian candidate, and recalled by no one in college, are but some of the attacks made on Obama's legitimacy. With them came the demand for his birth certificate and, even his college marks, as proof of his citizenship and verification of any claim to academic excellence.

That the man who was the main protagonist in this attack has followed Obama as president, says a lot less about Trump the man and his suitability for the job, than about White America.

Whereas a minority of whites, but a sizable one nevertheless, were willing to vote for a decent black man, over two presidential cycles, its majority recoiled at that reality and in response elected a lying, narcissistic scumbag - one of their own - in a rallying cry of "Make America Great Again", a shorthand for "We want our country back".

It will not be easy for this same group to accept the reasoning behind this new honor for the country's first black president. Not, when they want, or wish they could erase him from memory and destroy his legacy. 'This becomes just another roadblock in their way.
