people still talking about dropping Hope.

what's shocking to me is that
In reply to methodic
Hope still has not established himself in the team, a poor score in the 2nd innings of this Test and a first Test failure in England and he could lose his place.

Just be grateful that those advocating the drop, have no say in the matter. There are a lot of folks on here who would like to have Courtney Brown's job.
I say drop anchor the Ship of Good Hope.
west indies do not have a bunch of potentially class test players waiting in the wings.... a young guy comes along, scores a heap of runs in domestic cricket, generally looks comfortable at international.level despite being thrust in too early and as an opener and people want to get rid of him. Yes he hasnt scored heavily yet, but he wouldnt be the first quality player to need some time. its true he may never quite make it, plenty of talented players never made the transition.... but the chances are he will. If not Hope... who exactly? some people dont know cricket

Why shocking, they were about to drop Chase and Holder. Now they ready to discard Bishoo. They have all of these great replacements too
In reply to Baje
Agreed

At the end of this series we can see what shai Hope averages. Remember one half century in a series should not guarantee selection for life.
What does he currently average for the series?
In reply to Baje
Careful. Some who want to keep hope want to drop bishoo
It's a complex lot
In reply to Baje
Remember the backup Quarterback is always the most popular guy until he becomes the starter.

Where did you see that on this board?
If you see it....then someone has a homebwoy to come in his pplace

with these young players you throw away the stats book until 20-25 test.
Folks, I make absolutely no apology for this. I am of the firm belief that today's leg spinner must come to the table offering a lot more to his bowling compared to the incumbent.
And it has nothing to do personally with Bishoo. The game has grown and the modern leg spinner has a lot more control and variety and this is a fact. Bishoo on the other hand, is stuck in a time warp.
Bishoo has been given ample opportunity to grow at his bowling...and there has been no discernible growth even when given personal and detailed attention. Bishoo has reached a comfort zone and is not willing to experiment to bring about improvements to his game. In the modern game players must show continual improvements or ship out.
In such circumstances of little or no growth, any decision maker worth his salt will be examining more options in the interest of improving the welfare of the organisation. It is that simple.
I would have made the comment for any other similar leg spinner playing for the West Indies.
Funny...none of my fellow dotties criticized me when I made the statement early in the game that: "Devon Smith should be no where near a West Indies test side."
Cuss me some more...I'll be happy to accept the cussing in the overall interest of West Indies cricket.

Name your knocking down the door world class replacement, or yuh gun try a ting?
In my opinion players that have aided and abetted a team to victory or avoiding defeat are players who have shown CHARACTER AND DETERMINATION.
Hope's second innings in Barbados is what gave WI a rare victory...Kraigg have done so in the past and Blackwood too has done this.
So I am not for dropping Hope or Blackwood unless you can show me as Runs said this world class player or potential world class player knocking down the doors.
TCM..."Turner Classic Movies...no cussing?"

Yes because averaging 19 at no3/4 really makes alot of sense to continue playing him for 25 tests games
In reply to Starzz
The only thing going for Shai is that he scored one half-century in his last six Test innings, while Kraigg, Powell, Hetmyer and Vishaul haven't scored a single half-century between them in their last six Test innings respectively.
He only looks like a giant because he's standing among pygmies.
In reply to mikesiva
What is his average ??
In reply to voiceofreason
Averages this Test series:
1) Kraigg - 16.83
2) Powell - 26.83
3) Hetmyer - 16.00
4) Shai - 24.83
5) Vishaul - 10.50
It's a pretty sorry bunch, isn't it?
Shai's Test average before this Test - 19.17.
Barbados should go ALONE
That ways Shai Hope can plan for next 10 years, why limit to 3-4
