So anybody can after the fact second guess the selectors.
So on the basis of fc scores and against pak the selectors brought in Hetmeyer and singh and left out Blackwood. It failed but how quickly we forget people were calling on basis of fc for the heads of Blackwood Dowrich and Chase. They also called to fast track Joseph and drop Holder.

Team selection is not an exact science. It isn't even science

No, it's not. But commonsense is a virture.
Blackwood should've played in the Sabina test, with either of the two debutants left waiting in the wings, poised to take over from any failing frontline batsman. Did I say any?

Why wasn't Jason Mohammed not played on the back of his odi knocks?

Not enough to displace the incumbent.

Who were these people?

It's not an exact science, but it was sheer stupidity to drop Blackwood after Lil Bravo and Samuels made themselves unavailable. Powell was coming back after a two-year absence, so anyone with an iota of common sense would've kept on Blackwood for this series at least.
It was madness to play BOTH Hetmyer and Singh. A more sensible decision would've been to keep Blackwood and play just one of Hetmyer and Singh.
Courtney Browne's selections give me as much confidence as his ability to take catches...his selections seem to be based upon a wing and a prayer, rather than the mathematics of averages.
Science should play a more important role, especially mathematics. If you were going to give a player a debut, there were several players who averaged more than Vishaul Singh, for example, in the PCL. The way the selectors ignored this science made these batting fiascos more likely.

So using that logic of mathematics did Blackwood outperform Singh and Hetmeyer? Didn't they also outperform Chase? So Chase should've been dropped too.
