There needs to be better communication between our players while batting. The Pakis and other teams do it to good effect

I am not blaming Chase but as a top/middle order batsman batting with the tail, it was incumbent on him to call Gabriel and tell him that this was the last ball so remember our goal. But maybe, because of the tension, he did not think of that.

But while Gabriel did well by facing more balls than some top order bats, some of whom should have no place in the side, that shot he played at that stage of the game was inexcusable.
Only a cricketer from the WI will do that.

Nonetheless the guys fought hard unlike the star teams which have been famous for surrendering meekly, using Tony Cozier's favorite words. So kudos to Chase and the team for their gutsy performance and let's wish them better come the next tour which will be a tough one.

Chase at the post match said he told the tailenders tk trust their defence. ..what more could he do? After Joseph played a big swipe and got off lucky Chase spoke to him. There was no more opportunity to talk to Gabriel because his swipe ended the match.

I understand that Chase spoke to Gabriel at start of the over. Told him "OK skip, just one over for you to face...6 balls to go" But the Bajan accent had Gabes...he thought he had one over to get 6.

Bajans do talk funny. Chances are it was some long talk that confuse Gabes.

Good point, more communication might have help, how the WI lost that Test is very frustrating after fighting so hard. The story of the incident will follow Gabriel for the rest of his career.
