Held a one day camp about a month ago for 10 of St. Vincent & the Grenadines up and coming fast bowlers. Read more about how he has already impacted on one bowler
He was in SVG on vacation and asked to hold a one day session. Was great of the legend to do it out of the heart, without asking for anything in return!

Naw, only play cricket for the sake of playing these days. Aspirations of making it far went years ago. I play now to spin ball ah mile and hit balls as hard as i can.

I visited VI some years ago and I liked the young men approach to their cricket, and "said will not be too long that a great player will develop from this island". Arnos Vale to Sandy Bay, all the way!

One day and u claim he mekking difference wat if he stay a week? Caribbean peeps easy to please!
In reply to XDFIX
That depends on how hard head u be. One can learn a lot in one day of coaching tips and pointers. A week is camp and repetition but what Mikey show the youngsters in a day and the coaches, they can and may have practiced further on their own. Plenty one day seminars and training etc going on in the world in all forms. The sharp ones take one or two pointers that work for them, try to perfect it, then expand from there

Think it through properly and you'll see how it can make a difference. I does do web development on the side, the design part of it was never my thing. We boy navin just gave me 3 pointers that changed everything for me. Now my design aspect the least of my concern. So, all in all, one day pointers do work!!

Correct, after Holding left, the main person in the report went in training and kept working on what Holding told him. Windies T20 pacer Keswick Williams is now a police officer so he worked along with him to help him out as well.

You and I know, this outing by Mickey was a clinic, for a group of young fast bowlers.
How much time do you think it takes to show and tell a motivated, reasonably intelligent person how to do something?
I remember a schoolboy being told how to move the ball away from the right-handed batsman rather than what was at that time his customary delivery into the righthander. It took between 90-120 seconds for a former Guyanese batsman to tell how to do it.
Several schoolboy-batsmen from that island, even a couple who went on to national and WI U19 duties and, at least one WI Test umpire were overheard on separate occasions, remarking on the skill of this bowler.
Congrats to Mikey, and good luck young men!!!

Thank you for this story, Jen.
BTW, in my opinion, you are best cricket poster on this site. The two things I admire most about your posts are:
1. you appear to be very knowledgeable and you are probably a coach
2. you always have an objective point of view on things and I have not yet detected any hint of insularity in your contributions.
I enjoy reading your contributions here. Well done.
That was very Good of Mikey, it has always been my belief that former Great Players are always willing to help . They have proven that on many
occasions .
The problem however is that the MIMIC
MEN in the WICBC , think that it is beneath their exalted perch to pay these former Great Players to help in
making our current Players as competitive as they can be .
The problem as I see it is the fact
that Regional Boards & the WICBC for years have refused to bridge the Chasm that exists between them & the
Players .
They believe that they & only they
know what is best for West Indies Cricket . But the fact is that they
know absolutely nothing .
They prefer to hire Jokers from Overseas , rather than hire any of our former Great Players . It is time
for the Regional Boards & the WICBC to be completely Restructured , from Top to Bottom .

Ain't technically a coach yet but do have a lot of knowledge about bowling, especially spin bowling. Anything that takes a mathematical and logical approach (physics) gets my fancy and skilful bowling is all about physics. Someday, i'll try to get a level 1 or 2 coaching certificate and help out bowlers on the local scene.
As far as the objective nature of my posts go, I grew up loving west indies cricket enjoying Walsh and Ambrose, especially the antics of Ambrose. So, from since i was very young, I fell in love with "West Indies" cricket. That love has transpired to me loving anything good that originates from the caribbean on a whole. Love our beauty and our people, I love the entire caribbean as my own!!
