HEADLINE: West Indies eye clean sweep at Warner Park

A series like this one can often be an underwhelming exercise for reigning T20I world champions, West Indies. Every time they take the field, nothing less than a crushing victory may seem satisfactory on their part. Furthermore, one can be sure that should they be defeated in even one game during the three-match series, it is the loss that would be remembered by fans and pundits alike. Hence, to their credit, West Indies have done just about as well as they could to ensure Afghanistan have been given no cause for excitement, and that the tourists have been comprehensively defeated in both T20Is. One might even be tempted to go so far as to suggest the hosts have demonstrated a degree of maturity and professionalism in both their outings so far - sentiments that don't necessarily scream West Indies.

For Afghanistan, this was always going to be a historic tour, with the feel-good factor unlikely to have ceased despite the results they have incurred so far in the field of play. Even so, they must be disappointed with how they've gone about their business in the last two games, never even coming close to worrying West Indies, let alone pulling off an upset. There is little doubt the Afghanistan bowling attack has struggled for breakthroughs that would put pressure on the opposition batsmen: they have taken only seven West Indies wickets in two T20Is, with both the Zadrans - Dawlat and Shapoor - having been grossly expensive. Add to that the tourists' batting displays on both instances that bordered more on the Affiliate/Associate brand of cricket than the Associate/Full Member one. However, what has frustrated Afghanistan till now may also give them hope: these two performances aren't holistically representative of this side, and one would expect they're due a better one in a contest where the pressure will be off.

IT IS INDEED A VERY SAD TIME WHEN WE

HAVE TO JUMP UP & DOWN CELEBRATING

BEATING LOWLY AFGHANISTAN .

Heaven help us . People need to realize the stark fact that WE are
wallowing at or near the Bottom of International Cricket ; especially in
the longer versions of the game .

I take umbrage to the Stupid comments
of Danyal Rasool remarks , because
his knowledge of West Indies Cricket , especially regarding Players from St. Vincent & the Grenadines is extremely Shallow .

If Mr Rasool took the time & effort
to do some research on Cricketers from SVG he would have learned about
the following :

CHARLES OLLIVIERRE - Was one of the
members of the first Team to Tour
England . He did not return to SVG , but played Cricket for Derbyshire , where he was called KING CHARLIE .

ALPHONSO ROBERTS - Played for the West Indies vs New Zealand in New Zealand .

MICHAEL FINDLAY - Played for the West
Indies on several occasions .

WINSTON DAVIS - Played for the West Indies .

CAMERON CUFFY - Played for the West Indies .

IAN ALLEN - Played for the West Indies

NIXON MC CLEAN - Played for the West
Indies .

Let me state a fact that Mr. Rasool
may not know .

FOR MANY YEARS PLAYERS & TEAMS FROM

THE WINDWARD ISLANDS & LEEWARD

ISLANDS WERE BARRED FROM THE REGIONAL

TOURNAMENTS .

The person who demanded that this
asinine exclusion be stopped was
Sir Frank Worrell ; who demanded that
Players from both the Windward & Leeward Islands be able to vie for
selection to the West Indies Team .

There are some Players from St. Vincent & the Grenadines whose talents were lost , the first was :

IAN NEVERSON , In a match vs the MCC
Playing for the Windward Islands Team
Neverson made 90 not out , against Statham & Truman both in their prime at the time .

FRANK MASON , A Pace Bowler who once
cleaned bowl Worrell for a duck .

GARNET NILES , One of the Finest Wicket Keepers in the Windward Islands .

Unfortunately they played when the
Windward & Leeward Islands players
were not allowed to participate in the Regional Tournament . Only
Players from Jamaica ; Trinidad & Tobago ; Barbados & Guyana participated in the Regional Tournaments .

You forgot to mention the Shillingfords, as well as the Livingstone Sargeant (maybe the best of the lot) fellow.

NO , the author of the article was writing SPECIFICALLY about PLAYERS from St. Vincent & the Grenadines .

Not about the other Islands that comprise the Windward Islands .I am fully aware of the Shillingfords , in fact I know Irvine personally .

The fact is that there were players
in the Windward Islands & I presume the Leeward Islands who could have made the West Indies Team , but the
Windward & Leeward Islands were banned from participating in the Regional Tournament in those days .

The Windward & Leeward Islands in those days were only allowed to play
4 days matches vs International Teams , one of the International Teams , I do not recall , which one stated that
the best wicket Keeper they saw in the Region was Alec Reid from Dominica , but he never got an opportunity from the Big Idiots to
showcase his Skills .

Bam Charles from St. Lucia , a bowler
who did well in an International match vs an International match playing for the Windward Islands , was very successful , they took him to Jamaica , but he was not selected
by the Big Idiots .

This was in an Era when only Players from Jamaica ; Barbados ; Trinidad &
Tobago & Guyana were selected to represent the West Indies .

It was Frank Worrell , who decided that Players from both the Windward &
Leeward Islands should be able to vie for places on the West Indies Team .
Please note it was not any of the Cricket Board , in the above named Countries .

Please tell me about Livingstone Sargeant , I believe that I was not living in the Region when he played .

Irving Shillingford , in my opinion was one of the finest batsmen the Windward Islands produced . He had a wide array of strokes , He was a Teenager , playing for Dominica in the Windward Islands Tournament , that was held that year in SVG .

Earlier that same year , the Windward
Islands Secondary School Tournament was held in Grenada , all the Members
of the SVG contingent agreed that Irvine was the best batsman on the Tour .

Shillingford made 120 (first inning)in his second test, didn't bat in the second inning. Played two more tests and was discarded, never to be heard of again. TBH, the middle order was laced with quality, Richards, Kalli, King, Lloyd; but i believe he was good enough to warm the bench a lot more than he did.
